Hey there, this is my first post on Tacoma World. I have a 2005 SR5 Tacoma with 101,000 miles that I want to lift/level just to make it look nice and do light offroading with. I've been reading a lot on here and other sites about lifts and have decided to go with bilstein 5100s in the front set at .85 inches and then 1 inch blocks in the back. My questions are: Will this work out ok, or will there be too much "rake"? Should I buy the rear bilstein 5100s to replace the stock ones still on there?
Any other concerns please let me know, Thanks

I wouldn't put a block under the crappy stock leafs, especially with over 100,000 miles on them. They're prone to breaking, especially in the rust belt where you live, without blocks....the blocks will just exacerbate the issue. I would spend a little extra money and get an AAL (or even a new leaf pack if you can afford it) and i'm sure the rear 5100s will make the ride a bit nicer.

Thanks, I wanted to get 1 inch of lift in the rear because if I lift the front more than the .85in. setting (next is 1.75in. on the bilsteins) I would need a differential drop kit and more money into it that I don't have. I cant find a 1 inch add-a-leaf, only 1.5, but I think I'll try and find a shop nearby to get their opinion on it.

You won't need anything extra in the front at 1.75. Even at 2.5 you would likely be fine. Getting close to new UCA territory there though. Differential drops in 2nd gen Tacomas don't do anything.

Oh, alright. Now I just have to think about what I really want then. Thanks for the input

No problem.....lots of info on this site. Keep searching around and you'll find answers to just about any question you have. The 2nd Generation section usually gets more responses than this Suspension section so if you can't find an answer to you what you're looking for, I would ask in that section to get better responses.

As far as your lift goes, a single, nicely ARC'd spring (not too much ARC) added to your existing would probably yield about an inch....but yeah , do away with the block if possible, but 1" blocks aren't a deal killer IMO, hell the overload is almost an inch , its just a big ugly block actually...
