Hey everyone..been doing a ton of research but cannot seem to find clear answers..I currently have a 6" pro comp drop bracket lift on my 2013 double cab, and would like another 2-3" to run 37" tires. Are there any options to gain some additional height without going the body lift route? I will if that's the only option, but just not a fan of the frame hanging out the bottom. I don't do much off roading so I don't need a ton of room for travel, so I think another 2" should do it. I've read about the icon adjustable shocks, but don't know if that would work or not with a drop bracket setup.

Thanks a ton to anyone that could help me out with this.

    Jeff

Adjustable coilovers would be the way to go

With adjustable coilovers, if you raise the height does that put strain on the joints and wear parts out quicker? Or is it a viable option to get a couple inches of lift?

And I haven't regeared yet, been talking to east coast gear supply and will be getting 4.56 gears in a few months.

It'll basically be like putting 2-3 inches of lift on a stock truck. So whatever can go with that ie CV binding. Can happen

Are icons the way to go for coilovers?

I've heard 4.88's aren't as good for road driving compared to 4.56.. Is this true, or would the difference be pretty small between those ratios?

And for the cutting..I'm sure that will have to happen some with any option I go with, and I'll do it begrudgingly, but I really want a little more height vs where I'm at currently

Cool, I'll do some research on what stress is put on the joints when adjusting up the coilovers. Anyone have firsthand experience with a raised coilover, and if it's recommended long term?

Thanks again for the wisdom so far

going to need new brake lines, but ive seen 37 on a taco before 6 inch with a 3 inch body lift, or add coilovers to the front but you will probably need new UCA's

Are you an auto or a manual? I'm an auto and running 4.88's with 33's (which is kind of over kill, but it didn't hurt my mileage so it is great on road, especially on the freeway). I couldn't imagine running 37's without 4.88's on an auto. With the manual it will just depend on if you want a little more torque feel from the motor or a little quieter on the interstate, a manual with 4.88's and 37's will run about 2900 rpm on the interstate, with 4.56's about 2650rpm. For reference I currently run about 2700 rpm and I think it is fine.

I don't know too much about the 6" DB lifts, but if you get 6" of lift out of them while still running the factory Coilovers then adding in adjustable coilovers should easily give you another 2-3" just like on a non-DB lifted Tacoma.

Mine is auto..so you don't think 4.56 gears would be enough with 37's?

If you are an auto go 4.88's all the way! A lot of guys are running 4.88's just for 35's! Hell I am running them for 33's. Even with 4.88's I imagine your tranny will still be hunting for gears on the interstate with 37's, for sure with 4.56's though.

Check out my build bud. I was running 8 inches. Best way to go is get leaf packs made for the rear and get a good coil over setup for the front. Icon makes a 6-7 inch coil over for the pro comp and fab tech kit but you can crank the coils to get the extra lift.

Man that was an awesome build thread and awesome truck..well done! Just went through the full thread; so you were talking about Billie 5100's set at 1.75", that mean that I can use my factory coil and the procomp spacer and still get the additional 1.75" just with the new shocks? And will this strain my suspension joints?

I will do coilovers next year sometime, but it would be great if the 5100's could provide a cheaper option until then.

thank ya. you can do that but it is a little harder on your suspension and ball joints. if your not going to go coilover route for a while the best way to do it is. put your billie 5100's at 0 setting and get ome 885 coil's. the coils are 2 inches longer than than your stock coils so your getting your front lift from the coils instead of the struts.
