Question Alignment specs for 5100's set @ 2.5" w/ stock UCA

Alignment specs for 5100's set @ 2.5" w/ stock UCA...

Okay - I have read some many different alignment settings for a lift kit!

I have read - with Stock tires to Larger tires, and many different Toe, Camber, and Caster Settings!!! Also with or without Stock UCA's.

I'll admit - I am a little lost on what is the CORRECT SETTING?
( with Stock UCA's )

I have a "06" Tacoma DCSB TRD, I added (4) 5100's Billes @.85, Eibach 620lbs Springs. with LF 1/4 Spacer. Rear 1.5 AAL 3 HD Leafs, 3* Shims, with O/L Springs left in, CB drop, (4) BFG's 265/70R16, Stk Size Tires.

Front went from 34" to 37", Rear went from 37" to 39".
I know it will settle in time... right now it is at 3", but hoping it settles to 2.5" in front, and .5" in rear....

I want to have the correct setting to save wear on my new tires, plus so the truck rides like it use too. It feels very touchy at normal speeds to highway speeds. I am having to hold the wheel firm and making slight correction all the time, it will drive straight. but follows every change in the road crown. ( I had the new tires on a week before the lift, so I know it is not them doing it! )

I have read -
Toe: 0* to 4* ???
Caster: 0* ? ( without stk UCA's??? )
Camber: 2.4* to 3.1*? ( or 2.1* with Stock Tire Size??? )

This is my Align spec's right now with 200 miles since lift & no cupping of tires yet!

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

That's because your Caster needs to be over 2.1*. Right now, its at about 1.5*, so it will feel "twitchy", and want to wander. Also, the Camber should be .4* or so. They left the Camber higher to give you more Caster, but its still not enough.

So I should tell them to set it at -

Right now I am higher on Caster 1.5, and lower on Camber 0.6? - just making sure I got this correct???

Me Now-
Toe: 0.00*
Caster: 1.5*
Camber: 0.6*

Okay. I was just trying to get the best I could with stk UCAs

but most posts or threads kept saying higher Camber 2.4*, n Caster .0* but most said it after new UCA's..

So I need a higher Caster and lower Camber with stk UCA's

( I was just trying to save some money after the lift cost, But it looks like I need to break out for some new UCA's )

I have the same lift and the same problem, running stock 265/70r16 tires.
heres my specs after alignment at firestone



I know it won't be perfect but i feel like it could be better than this.

I have a feeling most people who say "I'm at 2.5"-3" and my alightment is perfect with stock UCAs" mean that "its in spec but not ideal"

cause 1.3" is still in spec but sucks to drive lol


if we saw more of these alignment spec sheets it would clear up the age old question of will i need new UCAs with a 2.5" lift

agreed, i was naive and read that it was hit or miss with stock uca's. the truck drives fine from what i can tell, i just don't want to mess up my tires. hopefully they will be good until christmas

caster wont mess up your tires. From what i understand, it is just moving the tires forward or rearward in the wheel well.

Camber will only slightly cause inner wear. My previous car was lowered with 2.5 degrees of negative camber and didn't have excessive wear

The real killer is toe.

that is correct!!! Toe - is the real killer!!!

Camber - wears the inside or outside edge of tire, depending on how much +/-

Caster - is the position of the strut compared to the front tire center as if strut was straight up n down - dead center is zero degs.
The affect it has is on the steering wheel, returning after a turn or not returning! plus to put some drag on front wheels or no drag!

I am going on Tues to a Toyota Dealer for another Align, I know they do a lot of lift kits.

I spoke with the Tech, he says there really is not a set settings for a kit! but he can take my truck for a ride. see how it feels and handles. then make some adjustments - that may improve the ride and handling!! by adjusting camber & caster. then make sure the toe is in spec - so it does not put to much wear on my tires...

I will post the new specs when I get them!!! hopefully it will improve the ride and handling. ( I like it to feel as close as it did before the lift, but I know it wont be the same, since the susp is a lot more stiffer and firm!! ) so I will see

Yeah I think you should be okay... But I would just keep a eye on the front tire wear ( outter or inner edges). I would just rotate the tires front to rear if you see a lot of edge wear till then..

DUDE!!! i have the same exact problem right now. Are you running 285 sized tires and 17" rims? i also have the 5100 front lift.

Ive gone about 7 times to try getting the alignment right. I'm starting to think I do need the UCA's, but im in the same situation as you, I don't want to spend too much right now. Did you get your alignment to feel better? if you have the #'s pleaseee share them with me

Nah I'm running stock size, 265/70r16's I haven't gotten another alignment since then but I'm rotating tires often to keep whatever wear I'm getting minimal until i get LR uca's for xmas.

without UCA's you will not be able to get the spec's you need for the front end to be right!!! I went back and had them increase as much caster as they could!!! then try to do the same with camber, without decreasing the caster!!! it still doesn't ride correct but is the best I can get with stk UCA's about 1.86 on caster, and 0.17-0.22 on camber... make sure measurements are equal left to right - will also help!


Monday - I am installing new set of UCA's Camburg w/stk ball joint style. then to get my alignment redone!!! and setting caster to 2.4, camber I will try about .50-.60? somewhere in the middle.. plus a tire rotation


I will post how it rides then...

Question Bussing or Vibration 30-50 MPH

Well I got the upper control arms in!!! but still have a buzzing or slight vibration in between 30-50 MPH, I know it is in the front???


Every thing is done correct - 5100's, C/B drop, Diff Spacer/Drop, Camburg UCA's


Alignment Spec's


Toe @ 0-2
Caster @ 2.7
Camber @ 4-5


I just don't get it, why is it Buzzing/Vibration???


Plus - new tires & wheels!!!
which was installed a week before the lift (with no tire noise). So I know it is not the tires! also did a Rotation today. So that the tire in the front are flat and normal.


tires only have 700 miles on them since lift.


any ideas????


When I put the truck into 4x4, the buzzing/vibration is gone, or barely even there...

Did you find out what this was? I have the same thing happening around 45-55.
Maybe wheel bearings?
