I just ordered my front and rear Bilstein 5100s, today from DSM. But, I am a little confused. I am going to be doing an AAL lift for now, then in a few months order replacement leafs with 2.5" lift to match the lift height of the front keeping the stock rake for load carrying reasons. Since AAl only lifts it 1.5", DSM said I will need longer shocks when I replace the leafs because the shocks that work with the AAL will be too short with the 2.5" lift. But, Toytec's website says that the longer rear Bilstein 5100s are for 1" - 2.5" lift, which will work for both the AAL and the new leaf pack with 2.5" lift.

Which is correct about the rear 5100s?

generally I tell people that 0-2" is fine for the normal 5100's.

I ran my toytec AAL with older 5100's before the bottom out incidents, so they were stock length; and never had a problem

best way to know would be to throw the aal on and measure, but FWIW, this is me on stock-length 5100's and a toytec AAL

Keep in mind that even though you're supposed to be getting 2.5" of lift, you don't always get just that. Might be closer to 3" or something along those lines if you aren't carrying weight

So I didn't read the OP thoroughly

For now, with the aal you'll be fine with the normal 5100, but if you replace the pack and go above 2" you will need a longer shock

I think, I'll leave the overload in to achieve the 2" + lift if I need to.
