    Hi All!

I am so glad I found this site!

I want to lift my truck next year......Any advice on what lift kits I should be looking at? I'm thinking 6 inch lift via suspension.

As of now, I'm debating Fabtech. Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance,
    Annie

not every truck has to have a 3" lift built specificially for "optimal off road performance"

    welcome to the forum annie.

here is a thread on fabtech, procomp e.c.t 6" lift kits. its a pretty big thread, and pretty old, so a lot of the pictures in the first part of the thread are deleted/dont show up. However if you look through maybe the first 10 pages, and the last 10 and see what others are saying, then make a post in that thread maybe asking people's opinions on how they like their kit, if they would prefer one over the other, things they dont like...im sure you will get some good responses in a relatively short period of time.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/43093-fabtech-procomp-6-lift-more-pictures.html

If there is an off road/shop near you try going in there and asking the guys there a few questions, and try to keep them from "selling" you a kit. You want info on one vs the other, not a sales pitch haha.

You have a prerunner, there is a better alternative to a 6" drop bracket lift. errr IDK what you have. 4wd or not?

    2wd:
Maxtrax 4" spindles, and springs/shocks or coil overs. Rear AAL and a block. Preferably a custom rear leaf spring to give you the needed lift is the best route.

    4wd:
Go for the rough country basic drop bracket lift and upgrade the rear leafs and add coil overs. Only so many ways you can skin a cat when it comes to drop bracket lifts. Thats the cheapest route, and leaves you $$ to upgrade the rear suspension and go for coil overs.

*I strongly suggest going with a 3" mid travel set up. I have a 6" Fabtech...not that I am unhappy with it but for performance there are better alternatives.

    Hi Aaron,

Sweet truck!!!! In all honesty, I have been debating 3 inches or 6. I really want to look into the set up you suggested. My Tacoma is 4wd.

    Thanks :)
main things to consider are what you really want. Do you want a lift for looks, performance, whats your budget etc. Tacoma's with 6" lifts do look mean !!

This lift on a 4wd isn't easily reversed as they have to cut a cross member off the frame.

    That changes things slightly...
Your profile information says you are a pre runner. If you have 4wd you are not a Pre runner.

A pre runner is a 2wd truck with 4wd suspension

I have a vote for fabtech. My shop has installed two of those kits one on a second gen and one on a first gen. very good kit for 6 inch lift but like people have said it is a rough ride. also very top heavy and not very much fun to drive on the freeway...

I didn't even know my profile said Prerunner. My Tacoma is a V6 SR5 4x4. Changing that shit now!

Looks & ride are very important to me.

I want the ride to be as smooth as possible (As it can be) but still have the height I want. Performance wise, I'm not really concerned about. As long as it can get mE somewhat into the dunes, I'm good. Not looking to convert my truck into a sand monster or anything lol.
