Pros and Cons of this lift!

I am looking into buy a 3" lift kit on my 09 taco is this a good lift?

personally....i'd fore go that kit for a toytec kit with aal for the rear and coils up front....instead of spacers and blocks. blocks can crack, and the ride isnt as good. for a cheap lift...that kit will be ok, but i'd rather go with a different kit myself.

 

what would be a ideal toytec kit to get? Mainly for a little off roading nothing huge just the normal stuff, and street driving.

 

here is one that would be a great one for your truck................. since you have the double cab.,......a medium coil would do good for your truck and light offroading.

 

so the leafs are better than the blocks right? Where it says that you can get a 1 1/2" block instead of a leaf. I would want to go with the 2" leaf right?

 

Dang thats not a bad price. Thats what I was wondering to Which one is better blocks of leaf for some basic mudding offroading.

 

to me....and lots of others....leafs are tons better.....they ride better, they wont really cause axle wrap like a block will, and they stiffen up the ride in a way thats makes the truck feel more planted to the road. blocks hae a tendency to crack, and the ride isnt as good as aal's.

so the aftermarket shocks are always better than the factory shocks? Why do blocks crack? The weight? Cold???

 

on a scale from 1 to 5 with 5 being the hardest. How hard is it to install that Toytec lift?

wouldnt you need new uca's and struts?

 

hey sector.im going to say a 2.if u have basic machanical common sence it a breeze.toys r so easy to lift (2nd gen).if u dont have that(no punt intended) then maybe a good local shop to do it for ya.it took me and my father 5hrs to do the whole thing.first 1 i ever did,but weve been around the autos for a long time doing conversions and what not.good luck to ya.

 

The strut gets built with the pieces and the UCAs are not required but they are a good idea if you are going to lift above an inch or so.

 

so i wouldnt need new struts. But would i need to get some UCA's cuz it is going to be 3"?

 

uca's will help get your alignment back to factory specs.

 

i thought you only NEED new UCA's for 3" but u dont HAVE to have them for anthing lower???

 

you dont HAVE to have uca's.........but they tremendously help with getting your correct alignment back after a lift.

 

ahhhhh but there so damn expensive!!!

but i would be good with the 5100's at 2.5

 

for the most part....im gonna say yeah. the alignment will be close, but not perfect.

 

Would any UCA go with the toytec lift or would i need a specific type for that lift?

 

yeah....any of them will work, but the more popular total chaos is one of the better ones.
