I went ahead and ordered the Timbren bump stops from Wheelersoffroad. $195 for the rear set. The part numbers are TORTUN4L for the 3-leaf OEM springs, and TORTUN4 for the 4-leaf OEM pack. For you, anybody lifted, or different spring packs like Deaver, I guess you have to measure the gap from spring to frame. See the discussion link below, there is some 5.75" Timbrens available as well as spacers, I think the standard height on the TORTUN4 is about 3.5".

Here's a good discussion about them:

Well, that only will reduce the sudden bump hit... it will not solve the problem. On weekends I like to wheel, go camping, etc... at least once per month I haul a camping trailer or a boat. These leafs will not handle any kind of load, neither just "coolers".

Well, the Timbrens are called a "supension enhancement system". So it's not like having the great load-carrying springs like the Dakar CS047. That was what was recommended to me, but the 2.5" lift I didn't want. Also cost difference, ease of install (or de-install in the case of the Timbrens). I can see there will be a time when unhooked from the trailer I'd want to yank them.

By the way, the part numbers I listed above have one significant difference - the TORTUN4 is 6000lb capacity, the TORTUN4L is 3000lb capacity, so obviously one will be stiffer than the other. The TORTUN4 is for both the Tundra and the Tacoma 2nd Gen.

    Best of luck to you . . . . .

Why didn't you just get airbags ?

Cost, ease of install and de-install, and I read some good things about the Timbrens. Hope I don't hate them and end up with airbags after all.

The WDH for the trailer was a disaster, it's gone now and a $36 straight hitch and ball on there . . . . I hope these Timbrens don't mirror that.

Just wondering cause it seems it would be a lot easier to inflate / deflate airbags than swapping Timbrens for stock bumpstops every time you carry a load

From what I read about the airbags even deflated to the minimum they interfere with full articulation, so I figured go with the cheaper simpler solution, and if I want full articulation for the brutal roads I'll just have to get under the truck and swap them out. Supposedly it's about 15 minutes per side, loosen the Ubolts, wrench them out, wrench the other ones in, retorque the Ubolts.

I thought U bolts weren't supposed to be repeatedly undone and re-torqued

This I don't know about either way. They're pretty stout bolts.

And you send that to Deaver and they say "There is no problem there, that's how it should be. Sell them to another one and buy us another model for your application"!!!

I'm going to put them on my son's go cart.

HAHAHA, good one! It is somewhat depressing to have thrown away 625 dlls (plus expensive shipping). And as paperweights are a little big. The only thing I can think of is to use them in any application completely weightless.

One more thing about these Timbrens. I've noticed I don't get as much vibration in that 18-20 MPH range since I installed them.

With the trailer hooked up the vibration was pretty bad. Since the Timbren install with the trailer hooked up that vibration has decreased noticeably. . . .

Why that is I do not know.
