I just got a new job (woohoo!) and will be able to afford a lift soon. I have a Prerunner so Maxtrac spindles are an option for me. I'm just not sure if getting a lift via spindles or via new coil overs would be best for me. I plan on getting new leaf packs for the rear. I don't do any wheeling other than dirt/gravel/bumpy roads on my way to campsite or along a river access road (and the occasional curb at the mall). I'm leaning towards spindles just to maintain the factory ride, but I'm not opposed to a little stiffer of a ride. If I went with new coil overs, I'd probably go with Old Man Emus.

Is there anyone out there that installed spindles and wish they installed coil overs instead? Or vice versa? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

If I could have afforded spindles for my first gen then that's the route I would have gone first. Spindles leave the suspension stock but also give you the clearance. You also have the option of adding coilovers with a spindle lift to gain more height and maybe room for 35's

If you don't need the added performance of coil overs spindles are the way to go... And you still have the option to upgrade later.. For 500 bucks and 0 performance changes you can't really beat it for what you are wanting.

I went with 5100s and eibachs although they do perform great for what I need.. I still kinda wish I went with spindles and just upgraded shocks

Doing both might be too high for my tastes, but the thought did cross my mind. Some Tacomas look good with a 6" lift.

I've had my truck for a while now with the stock suspension so I don't mind waiting a bit longer in order to save more money for a more expensive setup.

You can get coilovers and add 0 lift... The option is just there to lift if needed . its more performance printed then just lifted.. With off road valving ect.

I posted this in another thread where you quoted my post, but anyway this whole time I was under the impression that the Spindles from SOLO MOTORSPORTS were the only 1st gen spindles available that don't require a long travel setup. I may be wrong but that's what I thought/ was told. I hope I'm correct because I'm saving up to buy a set. I wouldn't mind going LT up front but it would have to be a completely bolt on system because I do t have the fab tools to modify when needed.

You're right, didn't see these. Thanks for the heads up now I'll be down another 1400 hah. Didn't want to spend that much more on an entire kit when I just needed the spindles

Just called SOLO and it does come with hardware to bolt up to the stock lower ball joint but they do require a uniball upper control arm. So probably looking at atleast $2k after purchasing some uniball UCA's
