    Real enough?

"A Spring Preload Spacer installs between the upper spring perch and the top of the coil spring. The spacer applies more preload to the spring, raising the static spring rate, which increases the ride height of the vehicle.

This type of spacer kit has two major shortcomings:

loss of rebound damping control, and loss of free down-travel or “droop”."

    And..

"The Spring Preload Spacer kit is designed to work with an OEM or aftermarket replacement “stock length” coilover assembly. This causes a major short-coming in the suspension’s performance due to the OEM specified rebound damping rates of the stock shocks. When additional preload is applied, the higher static spring rate will over-power the rebound damping capability of the O.E. shocks, creating excessive front end bounce movement. This situation is both uncomfortable and potentially dangerous."

    Both taken from Bilstein US.

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
Funny thing. My toytec spacers are the samething. Large spacer, then a smaller one on top. Still shit.

Popcorn. Man the attitude has got to go man. U will learn if u pull ur head out of ur ass. Not being a dick but ur handling the situation the wrong way. B tactful. A spacer lift of any kind "can" b ok for daily driving on the street but will b bumpy. Ur on a site where ppl really care about their trucks and most don't skimp in the suspension. If I was in ur shoes I would go the 5100 route. I think u will b much happier in the long run. Just b cool man. Stop being pissed at the world.

OK, this is going downhill in a hurry. Can't we all get along?

Fact: many people run revtek and other spacer lifts and are happy with them. They just tend not to be denizens of TW.

Fact: all spacer lifts are NOT the same design - this is even pointed out in the Bilstein white paper linked to this page. There's top-plate, in-coil, and combination.

Fact: you could break a 5100 shock with its spring perch set to 2.5 in the same way as that spacer-lifted factory shock (image earlier in the thread) was broken. If you run either of them hard and fast off road - you need to space out your bumpstops so that when the suspension bottoms out the bumpstops transfer the load instead of the shock absorber strut. Most folks don't bother to do this and yet we don't see a huge epidemic of broken shocks because most trucks are lifted for looks and never see hard off road use.

Fact: a 5100 shock with a spring perch set to 2.5" has a larger oil reservoir than the factory shock, and is valved with the assumption that it's at-rest position may be near the top end of its travel, as compared to the factory shock absorber. This does make it a superior option to an in-coil or combination spacer installed on a factory shock absorber.

Fact: Most folks on TW who previously had revtek (or any other) spacer lift and then ended up upgrading to a more expensive (better) lift feel like it was money well spent.

Fact: You can get 5100 shocks with a 1/2" top plate spacer and either a lift-block or add-a-leaf to lift the rear installed using your factory front coils for about the same money as a revtek spacer lift. My definition of "about the same money" may not exactly coincide with your own definition.

    unsubbed.
