are the SUA springs any stronger than the springs that come on the 4x's and prerunners? They have more arc but was curious if I could rebuild my stock springs sitting in my garage by finding a pair of SUA springs and cutting them down to fit under the main leaf of my stock leaf pack?

I guess it would be similar to the chevy leaf swap but I'd be using Toyota SUA leafs since they have much more arc.

Or are the SUA Toyota leafs just as weak as the 6lug Toyota leafs?

You dont have an idea how much I appreciate your help. I contact Micah Newton from downsouthmotorsports, and ended up buying dakar's springs with Icon's on the rear (Bilstens are ok...but just ok... I wanted something not as soft but still comfortable). Incredible service, kindness, and helpful person.

About the setup, it is just not comparable setup. Bilstein's were blown because the sag of the deaver leafs. The J66 are just not a good combo with bilsteins on a double cab for sure, I doubt neither on an extended cab. Now, this combo it is just amazing on the street. Just a little bit stiffer than my previous setup, but fells much better handle. This weekend will go to offroad/highway to have more to talk about of this new combo.

Ordered the J66 over the U402 Stage I.

Figured I rarely load the bed on an Access Cab. And, hopefully pairing with Bilstein 8100, but still deciding. The "internal bumpstops" sold me initially.

Since the Deaver J66s have been paid-for, any suggestions on the "properly valved shocks" to pair with? Equal-to or less expensive than the Bilstein 8100s?

Reporting that there are no issues so far with the J66 pack paired with the Bilstein 8100s on my truck.
Driven 300 miles so far on the crap roads of Michigan aiming for potholes, ruts, speedbumbs and train tracks. Looks like the 4cycl SR AC has the lightest curb weight of the lineup for 3rd gen, only one under 4K lbs. Honestly, I could go even softer on the compression in the rear as I hear the internal limit springs functioning more than the internal bump stops. Lastly, doesn’t seem like the rubber external bump stop has contacted the frame at all.

Deaver J66 arent crappy! They are just meant to do something specific. They are designed to be soft to go fast in the desert. They arent meant to overland or put lots of weight in the bed

    Zombie re-vive.

After 3 1/2 years of running the J66 and 8112s, it's not that soft, and the 2" of rear lift it gave never went away. But, put 800lbs in the bed, and it levels out and is comfortable.

Thought after all these years the springs would sag, nope. Even scrapped a 1250lbs payload of metal in the bed and there was still room between the bump stop and frame.

Finally, reached 60k miles+ on the boys, so gonna rebuild and removing the bottom two leaves of this 10-pack.

I still scratch my head on why the j66 was not as soft as everyone says, even the deaver website says it reduces payload to 300lbs. The only assumption I can come up with is the 4-cyl access cab 2wd is so much lighter than the most common, double cab 4wd v6, that even the softest leaf springs are oversprung for the base model tacoma.
