Hey Guys. Newbie here, any help would be greatly appreciated. So I know that all the information I'm looking for is already on this forum but that is exactly the problem. Even using the search function their is so much great info and so many posts that it is overwhelming for somebody that isn't familiar with all these products and terminoligy.

Heres the problem. I have a broken drivers side leaf spring on my '09 dclb trd sport. The truck has about 95k on it and all the original suspension parts. I want to obviously do both leaf packs and I also want to replace both rear shocks I'm not sure if I should do the front though or what to use at all, though I think I want to go with Dakars on the rear I am not remotely set on this.

What I most want is a little lift (up to 3" but no more) so that I can put a little larger/more aggressive tires on the truck as well as an upgrade in quality over stock parts. The truck is my daily driver/work truck(electrician) and I almost never go off road (3 times in 2 plus years of owning the truck) but I would like to start taking her offroad more often. Just some light trails, maybe a little mud. I also almost never tow so this is not a concern but I do load up the bed pretty good from time to time, even this is only a hanful of times a year though.

I want to spend as little as possible but will go as high 1300 ish if I need to. Also I'm going to be attempting this myself if that info is pertinent.

I hope the post isn't too long. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Billstein 5100's w/ 650# springs up front and a Dakar leaf pack in the back. Check into Down South Motorsports.

Otherwise, an OME setup all around with the same 650# coils.

Either setup should do well for you. Others with much more insight and technical knowledge should be chiming in here soon. Have fun!

^ this is great! thanks!...with this I should be ok with stock UCA's? Also will they assemble the coils for me?

I am more or less going to need an alingment after no matter what after I do the front correct?

At 3" many people suggest UCAs but there are aslo a few with 3" lifts who don't really have issues. They are an extra 370-450 it depends on your price range

A lift at/above 3" and you'd need to seriously consider uca's. Under that, without offroading, you should be alright. Yes, shocks/coils should be assembled. Yes, get an alignment once you put new tires on. Poke around this site for alignment specs since most places aren't savvy to offroading. Eg, my 255 tires need specific numbers so they have the best travel while offroading - on-road specs mean i'm rubbing too much.

You'll be fine for stock UCA's and light off roading, alignment is a must, and find someone competent, I think headstrong charges like $90 to assemble the coils.

Just saw on their site it is $90 for assembly....if I wanted to save some money and just do the rears with the dakars and 5100's for now would that create any problems for me? It looks like that would save me like 400-500 plus an allingment(no idea how much that is) and then I could do the front like next spring after tax time.

You'd have a lot of rake doing that, go ahead with the front 5100s and stock springs at the very least, there's a saying: buy once, cry once

Problem is I got the broken leaf...gotta do something with that so I figure I might as well do it right istead of just throwing in a shitty stock replacement. That's why I asked about doing just the rear for now.

Same with the tires. The tread is getting pretty bad and I will deff need new one before next winter so I figure I might as well get what I want now instead of getting something else and having to wait for those to wear out.

I'm sure someone on TW would give you their stock leaf pack. Many have upgraded and still have their packs. That could be a nice hold-over until you are comfortable both informatively and financially to buy an entire new setup.

Plus given some time you will most likely change your mind on what suspension you want. Many people research for months before they pull the trigger.

This thought never even crossed my mind...maybe it would be the way to go for the time being. I really want to do the lift but this would deff save me a ton of cash. Even if I could find one cheap at a junk yard or something. I just don't want to see it break again a few thousand miles down the road.

Can I do just the drivers side if I went this route or will the truck sit unevenly if the new one has les ware than than the passenger side?

I vote for full OEM set up 884s with or with out 1 of the over load leafs in the back or for max lift 885 full dakar pack in the back...

my 884 are staying at about 2 1/4 22 1/2 hub to fender....

They shouldn't quote you at all now that there is a tsb.
