I've had these UCA's since 2010. Not sure where or how the fracture started, but has anybody else seen this? I mildly 'pre-run' the truck w/ small jumps but otherwise it's use is like the majority of TW population, mall crawl, trails and desert. This is the drivers side, passenger side looks fine but I've noticed the damage growing.

Anybody know how this could happen? I'll be contacting DSM this week.
Nothing would suck more than to have the uni-ball seat completely split in half while blazing the trail.

My TC ones did that twice. Something to do with the max tracs and too much travel. The uni ball cup hits the spindle.

Also bent the bolt right there 4 or more times.

Yeah you are maxing out the joint and causing it to bind. Put limit straps and make sure the bumpstops are set right and you should be good to go

This might be the first justified installation for 1.25" uniball UCAs.

Nope, 1.0". Only 1.0" uniballs can use the off-the-shelf FK stainless misalignment spacers.

    All-Pro and Camburg are 1.25".

id look into bump placement, from where the gouges are it looks like a compression not a rebound issue

All of the above. I would replace the spacer and then cycle, strap, bump accordingly to make sure nothing is going to make contact or be damaged.
Contact me and I can get you set up with a new spacer.

yes it is a 1.0" inch bearing, but the spacers are not FK. they are a 17-4 stainless spacer that Desert Products makes to supply with their control arms.

^Thanks for the clarification. It just so happens the FK spacers are also made from 17-4PH.

Negative. Gouges from suspension over-compression would show up on the inboard side of the bottom spacer.

I feel like it's an issue with the spindles. The casting is too bulky on them. We know the Cup on the camburg UCA's touch the spindle and limit it. It may do it as well on some of the 1" uniball UCA's depending on pitch of the cup.

It seems like the cup hits the Spindle, then puts added stress on the bolt/mis-misalign, like it's wanting to pull out or away from the uniball.

Curious though, Droop it out and see if you can get pics or see if the snap ring ears contact the mis-align. If it is, it would explain how it's in more than one spot. The ball and spacers are turning while contacting the snap ring when you turn the truck at droop.

Im just spit balling here and what it kinda looks like or possible causes.

I have seen it a few times with various arms when ran with those spindles.

Great thought, I'll droop it out on my next day off and shoot more pics. 12hr shifts are preventing that till thursday.

At least I am not the only one. I'll be contacting Maxtrac

Thanks Micah! I'll swing by this week.

    EVERYTHING
    Hey Guy's
I guess it's my time to chime in here. A lot of the guy's here bring up valid points as to do with over-extension and over-compression of the suspension. As we have stated on this site is that Maxtrac spindles are designed to work with all of the " Factory Components " nothing more nothing less. We designed and built the spindles to work on all of the stock Toyota suspension components and that's it. It is way to hard to try to bring in everyone's aftermarket parts and cycle the probably 1000 different configurations to see if our spindles will work with those different parts. I'm amazed to see SDHQ want to blame the only piece on the suspension that doesn't move. There isn't one moving part on our spindle. They also say that our spindle is too big... Thanks you for that... We wanted to build our spindle to withstand a lot of punishment and NFS can understand that part. He destroyed not one but two front suspension total destruction and the only parts that survived were the spindles... Now I know the owner of SDHQ and Ryan is a great guy... he builds some fantastic parts BUT they are made for race applications. Now even race applications have their limitations. You can't have unlimited travel.. It just wont work. So when building these race trucks they build in bump stops to eliminate over-extension and over-compression of the suspension. This will keep the suspension in working order and eliminate breakage.
So to fix the problem would be adding bump stops and limiting straps to make sure your suspension is running within the parameters of all the components that are on the truck.
Last I can say is please check all of your clearances and completely cycle the suspension to see where your limitations are. just because you add more travel doesn't mean all of the components will work together.
    Thanks guy's
