I recently tore apart my coilovers to get powdercoated and almost ready to start the reassemling soon. My main concern is how tight i need to get everything. When i tore them apart everything seemed tight as hell. I did notice they used thread lock. How tight should i get the top cap for the shock body and the bottom piece that hooks to the a arm and shock shaft? Thank for any help!

If it was all tight as hell and used locktite, that was for a reason. Make sure that instead of red locktite that you use blue. Get it all nice and tight. Remember, this stuff handles ALL of your road/dirt, impacts/vibration, so the locktite is there as an extra insurance to make sure the stuff will not accidentally free itself while you are driving 10,000 miles after the reassembly. You want to get it tight enough to the point where you feel that you cannot move the parts with tools anymore. After that point, give it one more torque for good insurance purposes.

Um, no. Call King and get the correct torque specs, shearing your coilovers apart would be bad.

    Torque specs

    That's cute bro.

Those goddamn 3.0's are as big as the viking women at the opera's. You are not going to shear a thing on them as long as you have some common sense. I'm not saying tighten them down with the torque of god. You must have never heard of the German torque spec. Guttentight.

    OK, good luck with that.

OP, I would still check with King on the specs.

I bought the red locktite figured i wouldnt be able to get them tight enough. guess ill go with the blue. My truck has been in pieces this whole summer from overtighting, stripping and multiple other issues so i think ill check to see if there are specs but i usually just tighten the hell out of it. i just stripped the threads on my spindle last and my hub bolts thats a few hundred more. thanks for the help guys.

just spoke with king and they said they use green locktite( i had blue when i pulled mine off) and too just spin it on hand tight and maybe stick a pipe or rod through the end and snug it up. They said they made a special tool to tighten theirs down. he also mentions just grabbing a cresent wrench and doing it. doesnt make sense to me bc these thing take a beaten and their only "snug".
