Hi guys, I'm ready to do a lift on my access cab v6 taco. I know this has been asked millions of times, but I'm just gonna ask again :D

My main goal is maintaining factory like comfort, but while keeping it capable on the beach. I don't do any offroading other than on the beach and some occasional dirt roads.

I want to spend the money and do the lift right, I'm looking to do around 2-2.5" lift. I've been looking at the Bilstein 5100 coilovers, but I was wondering if you guys had some recommendations for me. I'm also wondering what else I should order when I do the lift to do it right the first time.

Thanks so much for the help :D

What is your purpose for the lift? Looks mainly or performance?

My goal is for looks and to fit a bit of a larger tire underneath. Like I said I don't do much off-roading, other than beach terrain and some dirt roads for hunting. My concerns are though that I'm going to lose that comfortability of the truck how it is stock now.

Agreed. Get some billy 5100s. All four run about $350ish. I had them on my first 2011 doublecab with the rear tsb springs and it was a night and day diff. You'll be able to fit one size larger tire without any issues and much better ride quality. Good luck.

^ no to all of that. Go with Icon front to back for a factory like ride, 5100s and OME ride stiff. I've had 5100s, OME all the way to kings.

Good God. What a mixed bag of answers. My advice to you is :
    1. If you have the patience, read as much as you can here. There are lots of one line opinions. Best to read build threads and real experiences.

    2. If you can find a local active group, get with them during a meet or mod day. Look at lifted Tacos. Decide on your wants in person. Ask to ride in some.

    3. Call a reputed distributer that also does installs. Best to stick with those that do a lot of Toyota business. They can give sound advice based on the hundreds of lifts they install and customer feedback. DSM, Toytec Offroad, Wheeler's offroad among others. TW has a vendor list here you can use to find dedicated threads.

Here's the 3" Toytec Lift and the Bilstein 5100s on my 05 Tacoma. Also don't know what you're thinking for wheels and tires but I got Toyo Open Country's and they ride great (33").

Another question to ask yourself is how much are you willing to spend for the amount of off roading you're going to do! Especially if you want it to ride like stock.

Wheels I think I'm going to do TRDs, I'm trying to stay away from being too flashy. Not too sure what wheels yet. I like the BFg's. Looks like it sits real nice. You're happy with it?

I appreciate everyones input, definitely taking everything into consideration.

Here's the thing, the way I look at it is, I'm willing to spend the cash for a nice feeling ride. I understand that it's probably not ever going to feel stock after modding it. But I want to get as close as possible. I'm also willing to fork over the money just to save myself from the headache. Unfortunately, I've been around a lot of Jeep kids in my life and I've seen the nonsense they go through with their crumby lifts, so I'm trying to stay away from those headaches. I also work for a Toyota dealership so labor really isn't a concern for me either.

Yeah I'm real happy with it. Just realize that with the 33" tires they'll have to trim some on the wheel wells but nothing major.

Get Icons or King, OME and Bilstein arent much better than stock if at all. If you want to get down the hunting road faster and smoother you want a real coilover like Icon or King.
