I have read so many different suspension topics. Just trying to sort it all out in my head. Primarily my truck is used for driving to work. about 5 miles one way. I do go offroad at times, but it's usually just logging or fire roads, so they arent very rough. I keep hearing all sorts of different opinions on LR UCA's(i know some need them and some dont), yes and no on diff drop, extended brake lines. Any recommendations??

I want the ride to be about the same as stock. My main two options are a full billie kit which retails for about $700, or the Toytec BOSS kit that retails around $1200. If I need UCA's it will take me another 6mo or year to save for it. Are they hard to install if your lift is already in?

OME is a good kit that will give you 3"

Would need some UCAs however. I personally dont like LR from what I have seen but I have no actual experience with them.

    OME 885's
5100's front (set at 0) and rear
    Carrier bearing drop
    3 degree axle shims
    AAL or block
    Approx $400-$500
    You shouldn't need UCA's at 2.5"
But LR are cheap and have served well so far, lot of people run them. I see why you wanted to start a new thread but it will be the same thing here. A 100 different people telling you different things :D

UCAs are recommended for lifts over 2.5". That is not to say you will guaranteed to need them or you won't. Some people run the lift with out them and are fine, others are not and need UCAs. I have LR UCAs because I heard a lot of good things and you can't beat the price.

    NO diff drop:

I would recommend extended brake line in the rear at least. I did all 4 corners because I had the money at the time and I figured I would do it all at once while I was under there. I have All-Pro (bought during their black friday sale last year)

SO... no dif drop, and you aren't helping my frazzled brain teneighty. Basically i need to save my ass off for the next 6 months, buy the BOSS lift, and UCA's. I should buy the UCA's now and then save from there. Then I won't be tempted to lift the truck and put on UCA's later.

Get the carrier bearing drop not the diff drop.
You don't need UCA's if you only go 2.5".

I'm honestly fine with a 2.5" lift. I don't need a 3", just seemed to be easier because they have kits for that

The kit is actually 2.5" even though it says 3". The 885 OME coils give 2.5". You would need top plate spacers for a full 3". Just do the 885 coils and 5100's set at 0. You could get the nitrocharger shocks from OME BUT they are more expensive. Just depends on your budget.

ToyTec recommends 885 springs to be used with OME shocks, not 5100s FWIW.

Yeahhhh, but budget spent wrong and budget spent right are different outcomes. Not meant to be used with a 5100, so if you spend $170 on 5100s up front and they're not the right choice, isn't that $170 wasted?

Work great on my truck and 100's of others :notsure:

Def not the best suspension choice but there is no issue running the 5100's with 885's.

I'd like to upgrade soon but at the time my "budget" didn't allow. I've been very happy with them so far.

My budget is time dependent. $500-$700 lift now, $700-$1200 in 6-12 months.

Then I just look at pricier kits, that require new UCA's. Do you see why my brain is so scrambled now?
