I am shopping 3" lifts. Most of my driving will be highway. Looking to be able to play in the dirt/mud/snow (if we get any rain) back hills of southern California and possibly Pismo Beach north of me. Not going to be doing any extreme wheeling. I know, I can save my money and go with a OME setup or something along those lines for under a grand, but If I'm going to invest in my new 30k truck, I want to do it right the first time. I have read many posts here how happy people are with their OME setups, but would upgrade if they had the funds. I'm currently looking at the Icon Stage 4 kit, but I have been reading too many mixed reviews. Some say it rides like a Cadillac, others say you'll feel every little bump on the road. Today I saw this Fox setup on the Toytec site. Icon setup $3,500 Fox setup $3,300.
Please chime in, any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and comments welcome :)

Both of those are super high quality kits. Another option to look into is ADS. I may be a little biased, but I absolutely love my suspension from them and would recommend them to absolutely anyone. Read this whole thread for more info and reviews (and even some rave reviews from a great vendor here on TW):http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/su...g-shocks-suspension-information-pictures.html

Also, if you go with ADS, contact Brian straight from the company or talk to Micah at DownSouth Motorsports.

Just my little plug for another option!

I'm in the same boat as you. I want to get the OME kit, but do I want that on my brand new rig. However, coming from a mid travel frontier, I don't know if I want parts that will require maintenance again, create more noises, but ride better. I damn sure won't be mobbing the taco like I did the fronty. Too much money to lose playing

If you are only choosing 1 or 2 of those and you are mostly highway, go with icon or call this guy ^ he will hook you up.

Same boat as well. I don't need anything crazy I just want good all around capability and reliability. I had 2" coil spacers on my '00 for about a decade and it was enough for what I did with it. I'm leaning towards OME now. Im not clear on this and may be mistaken but I thought I've read somewhere on this forum that there are flaws with the 5100 setup. Maybe because it's not intended for this application? Where as the OME is purpose built.

I figured Fox would be better for mostly highway. A lot of reviews I've read on Icon is that they perform well and provide a great ride off-road but on road I heard they can be pretty stiff and have a rough ride. I've never had experience with either though, but I have been looking at going with either Fox or King's when I upgrade my suspension.

You can have them valved for your application but straight out of the box icon is better for on road (digressive valved) vs king or fox (progressive valved).

Im just not sure what setup to get in the rear since I have a shell and it adds more weight. I'm also thinking about buying a front and rear bumper

That's probably what I'll do with the Icon or King's I want; just wait till black friday next year. Not enough time to save up for this one and too much going on right now. Or maybe tax return...hmm

Thanks for the good discussion on this guys. I am looking at getting a new 2015 and doing the suspension myself, and this and a couple of other conversations has convinced me that the Icon Stage 4 is a good way to go.
