Good lift kits that won't break the bank?

I've got a couple questions actually. I want to put a 6" lift kit in however, I do not want to break the bank. Is there a good lift option that isn't too expensive and won't break my truck?

My other question is, do all 6" lift kits need to be welded and are they permanent?

    Thanks :)

Whats your price range? Any 6" lift is going to be relatively expensive since you normally buy larger tires and possibly rims as well.

If you plan on doing any wheeling you might reconsider getting a 6" lift altogether. Nothing good comes from those and you're not gaining any ground clearance due to drop bracket opposed to a 3" suspension lift.
Not trying to steer you away from a 6" lift but just making you aware that there are problems associated with them.

I really don't want to spend anything over $1800 honestly and that's just for the lift.

What use is the truck going to see? Streets? Or wheelin? Is this more for looks rather than function?

Yeah, I've definitely taken that into account. However, I don't wheel as much as I did back in the day and if I do, it won't be nothing hardcore.

    Do they break more easily?

This is my daily driving vehicle. I pretty much drive it to work and back. I want it for looks as well as clearance. I go camping a lot.

As stated above, with the drop bracket, you won't gain anymore clearance over a 3" suspension lift.

My fiance's brother recently bought a 2004 Silverado with a 6" DB lift and a 3" body lift. I have 3" suspension lift and I have more clearance than him. Granted he is on 37's and I have 33's we put him on 35's as that is typically the tire people run on 6" lifts just to test and the DB hangs too low.

Is your truck 4x4? If so, some kits require partial removal of the front cross member (cutting the frame). It is reinforced with their new bracket. And not all kits require welding.

Pro Comp & Fabtech have been building 6" kits for the Tacoma longer than anyone else ....both stage 1 basic kits are $1500 to $1800.

RCD, BDS, Rough Country & Zone offer 6" kits also.

Yeah, my first choice was Pro Comp. I had a lot of people tell me about Fabtech but I found their prices were ridiculously expensive. Rough Country I heard is terrible lol apparently it brakes a lot of things.

I do not want to weld anything on either and I don't want it to be permanent as I've heard from a few people.
