Thoughts on low cost 3" Rough Country lift kit?

Hi guys, I have a couple questions about a 3" suspension lift... I found a Rough Country 3" suspension lift package for my 07 tacoma 4x4 for only 299$ and i was wondering what you guys think about it? Its 2 rubber spacers on the rear with longer u bolts and a longer set of shocks, and 2 strut spacers on top of the struts in front and id need a front end alignment after the installation.
The price is great and i was wondering if my ride characteristics would change a lot, and if the change in the angle of my front suspension parts and my driveshaft angle would create any problems? I'm guessing Rough Country wouldnt sell the kit if it created any problems but just wanted input from any lifted owners or mechanics out there, thanks! (pic of kit attached)

 

Spacer lifts will make your ride a lot more stiff. If you just stay on road it would be alright but ive only heard bad things about people taking spacer lifts off road. I dont think your driveshaft angle will change as i have heard nobody talk about that. The thing that would change it is a diff drop which you wont really need because you are a second gen.

My .02 is to just take that money and use it to buy bilstein 5100 all around and eibach coils if you are looking for an inexpensive lift.

Agree with this post. I have this set up, except I sourced some parts used and others on group buys etc. you can do it for around 400 or cheaper if you buy used. Lots of members are selling this type of lift as they upgrade and minimal usage on them.

 

the lift is just spacers, ride will remain the same as it is now since no preload is being applied to the springs up front, the shocks that come with the lift for the rear might be better than stock, maybe not. if you are gonna wheel the truck this lift won't be good as in it will be soft and bouncy on the trails. if you aren't gonna wheel it this should do the trick for you.

 

A set of OME coils and AAl with give you a much better ride for probably the same price.

Don't get that Rough Country kit. The spacers will wear out your struts and the blocks will cause axle wrap. It's a mistake waiting to happen. Like many other guys said, get the OME kit or the Bilstein/ Eibach combo

 

go with the bilstein lift ive heard bilstein does wonders and i have that exact lift its terrible. every bump you hit will be brutal at least it is for me. thats just my 2 cents though

 

I have 2.5 inch Toytec coil spacers, .5 strut assembly spacers (3 inches total) on stock shocks and springs. Also 1.5 inch Toyect blocks on the rear. I think it was $279 from toytec.com Rides way better than expected and works for minor off-roading too!
