I was unaware that you can run ext travel coilovers with a ball joint UCA... I thought you needed a uniball UCA for ext travel?

... or just buy a new set of bolts from the dealer. I cut the heads of the ones on the truck, and slid the new ones in the opposite way. No butchering/scoring factory metal and perhaps causing future rust. ($40 in Canada)

... and thanks for the tip on the 1/8' spacer. I was wanting to get 3" lift to clear my 285 Mickey T Baja ATZ P3's. Maybe I'll go 1/4" spacers to reduce the preload and allow for the extra weight of the complete Avid bar wrap that I'm putting on the truck (150 lbs all around).

$7 - Rust Check rattle can. I use it as touch ups between a yearly rust spray.

Hey OP, I'm going almost the same route. I have the 2.5's ET's for the front (non-resi) and am just waiting for my Dackars and rear Icon 2.0 resis to come in.

I'm excited... and can't wait to looooooooooose the 3' spacers and 1' blocks.

Hey brother, how you liking PR? I am transferring to Guam this year. I am looking forward to testing it all out and will let you know how the rears are.

I did a lot of research on this because this is my daily driver I didn't want to deal with the noise/squeaking and maintenance of the uni-balls. The ball joint do not provide the full range of the Uni-ball but it is fractional and will not be noticeable with the type of off-roading I do. The Camburg with the MOOG ball joints do however allow for a greater range of travel than the stock setup allowing the use of the extended travel coil overs. I will let you know once I get an opportunity to test it and will check once I install one side.

Oh I see... I would just be worried that I could potentially overwork the ball joint and cause it to fail. Though just like you I would rather run a ball joint UCA because of the noise from uni balls. Let me know how it works out!

I thinks it's kinds kinda cool hearing a little bit of suspension squeak when those 2.5"s soak up a bump. I feel like when people talk about the squeak they make it out to scream like a banshee. I don't hear anything with DD use... but I only have 10k on my set up.

Lol yea it's cool if you know what it is... Haha I had a buddy that had a set on his 2nd gen and it wasn't super loud, but enough to annoy me. If I had a fully built rig obviously I'd be ok with it, but for my DD I'd rather run ball joints

That was kind of my thoughts as well. If I feel the need or start working my suspension to the point where I need that extra 1/4-1/2" of travel I will go LT. As for now though it is my DD and family hauler with occasional offroad. I wanted a good suspension so when I do go out I have a capable rig and a good Mid travel set up.

Now for tires, I am trying to decide between the Nitto Trail Grapplers or the BFG AT KO2s. I like the aggressive look of the Trail graps better but they are heavy and are a bit larger in the 285/65R18 size. I don't really care to do a CMC if I can avoid it. I will have 18x9 rims with -12 offset.

Running this spacer is not really the best idea. We have the shock travel limited at extension so your CV's / Tie Rods / Ball Joints or Uniballs do not bind. This spacer makes the actual extended length longer than designed, not by much, but there is the possibility of issue. You may want to at minimum jack up the truck, pull that wheel off, inspect the uniball and tie rod to make sure they are not binding, and as well the spin the hub if it is a 4wd and check for CV bind turning the wheel in all direction while checking.

Alright Icon rep what's the deal with the coilover shock use up here in the salt belt and wintery wonderland of New England? Do they rot out? Do the threads become hard to use etc etc etc?

PR isn't bad, I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're from a part of the country where people are friendly haha. This island is beautiful however so it almost makes up for the 'culture' here.

The ICONs were a necessity for the roads down here!

LOL, I hear ya, I was in Hono before AK. That wasn't the most pleasurable experience, however it was a beautiful island once you got out of Waikiki.

I don't know if the ICON's are a necessity for Guam or not but I needed them for sure....LOL

Well I installed it all on Friday. It was a long day with some frustration but well worth it. I still have to adjust it in the front and tidy up a bit but it does look sweet. I think it will really make it with new rims and tires. I am leaning towards the TOYO open country MT (275/65r18) or the Nitto Trail Grapplers (285/65r18) for my Fuel Hostage 18X9's. It was a rainy day in Sitka yesterday so I will attempt to get some pics to post today.

I installed the rears 2.0 resi's with the AAL and kept my overloads in. The rear is slightly stiffer but more control. It feels like a truck now without the harshness or jarring of an overly stiff suspension. I am getting a lot of flex out of the front and rear now, not sure the exact #s but definitely more than stock.

Looks great did you need to spend a fair chunk of time getting it level FT&BK or is this right outta box heights? How about the wheelers hd pack with no weight not to rough on highway or standard driving?

Leveling it front to back was ridiculously easy and only took maybe 20 minutes in total. I would say that if the Wheelers pack was installed without the overload it would be fairly close with the coilover settings from the factory.

As for the highway I cant really say, I live in Sitka Alaska, there is only 14 miles of paved road and 2 stop lights. There is not a highway here although there is a section of road where I brought it up to 60mph for a couple of minutes. I drove on access roads and on the road overall maybe 40 miles to break in the shocks and see how they ride. Long story short they are fantastic. It is a tiny bit stiffer but in a good way, much better control, less sway in turns, feels like the suspension is actually doing what it is supposed to. It is in no way rough, jarring or uncomfortable at all. The rebound and damping of these shocks are spot on.
