I previously had Bilstein 5100's set at 2.5" with stock coils (no anti-lean spacer on drivers side). My truck was leaning to the drivers side such that drivers side ride height was 1/2" lower than passenger side.

I just upgraded my front end to a full OME strut and 885 coil setup with top plate spacers and taco lean spacer ring on drivers side. My understanding was that this would give me about 2 1/2" lift, same as the 5100's, except gain another 1/2" on the drives side to correct for lean.

I did the drivers side swap-out first, and with the lean spacer I gained an extra 1/2" over what I had previously with the 5100. Perfect.

Then I did the passenger side swap-out and the OME gave me 3/4" of an inch more than what the 5100 had on that side. I didn't want any additional lift on the passenger side. Why did my passengers side ride height increase 3/4"??

Any thoughts on what I might have done wrong?

Spring perch could be upside down. The easiest way to determine would be to post a picture or two

Pics of both sides coilovers and ride height numbers would help... I'm no expert on OME stuff but for those that are, they'll need some pics.

Oh, and for the record here is the sequence of how I assembled each side:

    Drivers side:
lean spacer ring on welded perch of strut
    coil bottom cup
    coil
coil rubber top gasket (not sure what you actually call this thing?)
factory top plate (reused) with longer OME studs
    OME synthetic top plate spacer
    shock tower

    Passenger side:
Same as drivers side, minus the lean spacer ring

I thought both coils were identical... is there a drivers and passengers coil?

I'll post pix when I get on my lunch break but in the meantime, question:

The thickness of bushings and washers at the top of the strut shaft have no effect on ride height, correct? Just the thickness of spacers between the coil and lower strut perch, and coil and shock tower affect ride height, correct?

Reason I ask is that I did notice that the rubber bushing that slides over the strut shaft was a little thicker on one side than the other.

Also, another question -- I reused the rubber top hat gaskets that go between the top of the coil and the top hat. If the gasket on one side of the truck is squashed a little thinner than on the other side, I suppose that could have an effect on ride height......? (I'm asking)

    Ok, here are some pix:

Ride heights before (with 5100's all 4 corners, set to 2.5" in front, wheeler's 3 leaf AAL's in rear)...all measurements are center of hub to fender flare:

    Front drivers side: 22-3/4"
    Front passenger side: 23-1/4"
    Rear drivers side: 23-1/4"
    Rear passenger side: 23-1/4"

Ride heights after with OME struts and coils, anti-lean ring on drivers side, and 3/8" top plate spacers:

    Front drivers side: 23-1/4"
    Front passenger side: 24"
    Rear drivers side: 23-1/4"
    Rear passenger side: 23-1/4"

Anything look particularly wacky or not right?

It's really bugging me to have that passenger side higher than the other corners. Is there a thinner top plate spacer that I could put on the passenger side to even out the ride height?

Question: could I take the top plate spacer off the passenger side and instead stack, say, 2 anti-lean spacers on the passenger side to achieve my target ride height?

Why does it look like there is a thicker top plate spacer on the passenger side? Is there a top plate spacer on the drivers side at all?

If you're wanting to raise the driver, or drop the passenger, adding more/thicker top plate spacers to the passenger side is going to make it worse.

I noticed that too. I'm not sure why it looks that way. I think the rubber gasket on top of the coil is molded in such a way that it conceals the top plate spacer more on the drivers side. I'll have to measure both sides just to confirm that somethings not funky.

I meant remove the 3/8" top plate spacer and replace it with two anti-lean spacers which together would be thinner than the top plate spacer (I think).

Is the passenger coil upside down and therefore not correctly seated in the coil perch ?

I'll double check this when I get home from work, but I think since the coils are tapered at the bottom there's no way one could even get the top of the coil even close to seated in the perch, so I'm pretty much 99.9% confident that is not the issue. But I will double check. Thanks for the thought.

Looks like OZ-T is right to me

Who did the handy work  You pay some shop

If this is the case that Top Hat might be screwed up. There’s the lip that the isolator goes over top of and the lip of from the isolator. Doing this in reverse could destroy that isolator and that lip which is designed to center the coil and prevent it from moving side to side. Also with it reversed the coil won't seat in the bottom perch correctly which can make the coil compress on one side more than the other.

Hopfully its done right and the photo is just throwing us off.
