Hello. I have been doing a lot of research about what to put on my 2012 ACLB V6 six speed 4 x 4 Tacoma, and just get more confused the more I look.

I recently got a SWEET deal here (I have gotten a LOT of SWEET deals here, but this was on suspension.

As I was considering going 5100s all the way around, I feel I need to get about 2 to 2.5 inches on the front to level the truck. First thing that came to mind was Old Man Emu with the 885 springs. Then read this post

The key things I want, besides a small lift, is not to have to break the bank to do it. Yes, I intend to offroad the truck as much as I can, but it is still a daily driver. We feel the ride of the stock Toyota is GREAT, and we do not want to mess it up.

Will the 5100s up front load up the 885 springs? (I doubt it, but thought I would ask). Will UCAs be needed? There is also questions about drivers side droop....and who would want that?

Despite all my searching, I can not find a very clear answer. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Here is another head scratcher from this thread:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/11282-tacoma-lift-faq-guide-read.html

    Options for the front!

Bilstien 5100's This is a great affordable lift kit. These replacement shocks are great to add a few inches to the front of your Tacoma, it is adjustable and have a slightly better valving system than the stock shocks that come with the Tacoma's. (But please take note NO One recommends it to be used in conjunction with after market coils) This may result in damage of your suspension components.

The 884s or 885s will work fine with the 5100's. The 884s got me just under 2" up front with the shocks set at 0. Being an AC, you should gain 2" because your truck is lighter than my DC. If you don't want the driver side to lean, install a 1/4" spacer on the driver side only. It doesn't sound like you are planning on lifting the rear after reading your post so I will tell you that after I lifted the front and before I lifted the back, it was noticably nose high. You may want to consider an AAL if you don't want the bro lean.

Here's a pic. 884s, 5100's all around, driver side spacer, wheelers progressive AAL with overload left in. Hope this helps.

Similar question. Can I buy 5100, set it at .85, aal rear, and use stock springs? I want enough to clear 265/70/17 on stock wheels. I had an OME 2.5 with a top out spacer on my 4Runner that I bought as a kit, but putting together a smaller lift is harder than a straight kit.

A set of wheel spacers will set that truck off.

Yes, the 5100's are compatible with stock coils. However, I don't think you can get an AAL with less than 1.5" lift. If you go that route, lifting the front 0.85 and the rear 1.5 you will be increasing your rake. BTW, You can clear 265/70/17 on stock suspension so if clearing those tires is your only reason to lift, you won't need to.

Thank you so much for this info. I did get an AAL for the rear that claims a 1 to 1.5 lift for the rear. If I read your post correctly, 5100s set and zero with the 884s should give me the 2 inches to bring the truck level, and I can adjust up if needed. If I went with the 885s then I might have too much lift. Right?

Will the 884s provide a close to stock ride quality? We REALLY like how the truck feels on the street and do not want to jeopardize the ride quality.

Again, thank you for replying to my post and helping me out with this.

No problem. With the 884s getting you 2" and a 1.5" from the AAL you probably won't be perfectly level but still have a slight rake. Theoretically, you will have 0.5" less rake than before. That would be great for me but it's your truck. I love some rake look on a lifted truck. It looks like a tiger ready to tear the head off a gazelle or some shit. Or the way a woman stands in high heels;) Plus it's really handy to not have your ass sagging when you're towing or hauling. Again, it's your truck. So if you want level you can go up to the 885s, but keep in mind that when you get up around 2.5" in the front you start getting into alignment issues if you have stock uca's. The 884/5100 combo rides freaking awesome. Firmer than stock but 100% in a good way. No more body roll in turns or nose diving under heavy braking. Hope this makes sense and doesn't muddy the water even more.

Thanks Mgr. If my research is right then in can go with the 884 and adjust it uo slightly to get the level. Would you agree?

I did send a message to that post you provided. Thanks. I owe you a beer.

Sorry guys I'm back with a quick question.. So my 884s and 5100s come today but I just realized I can't find any info on people with 1st gens and this setup. I know people run 883s and the 884s are the same just 15mm taller. With my Xtra cab and bumper and v6 are they gonna be fine for a 2" level with the billies set at 0"? If anyone knows for the 1st gens that'd be great. Thanks!

I'm not sure what this set-up will do for a 1st gen, but I'm sure if you look through the 1st gen threads it will be there somewhere.

That depends. If you want perfect alignment then yes you will need aftermarket UCAs. I am currently using stock UCAs. My camber and toe are at 0 which is perfect, but my caster is low at around 0.9 compared to the ideal 2.5 ish. The truck is the slightest bit wandery at 65 plus, but not bad. Below 65 its not noticable. I drive 100mi/day on the interstate so I will be adding UCAs in the near future just to make my commute a little more comfortable. You could get the caster up a little higher, but your camber would be off. I chose to keep the camber perfect so my tires will wear evenly. Hope this helps.
