Need a place to Install 5100

So i got a set of 5100's for the front from Sonny at DownSouth. I am having trouble finding anyone to put them on (in the Kansas City metro). Firestone, Goodyear, Midas, Meineke will not put them on for me because they are "customer parts". I called a shop that deals in aftermarket truck parts and they quoted me a price of $289 +tax. That just seems crazy high to me. I havent checked the dealership yet, cause i figured it would only be higher.
I was thinking about taking them off myself and having someone compress the springs for me but they once again wont do it because of "customer parts." I dont really want to jack with renting a spring compressor, since i have read on here how it can be pretty dangerous.

Anyone on here from the Kansas City Metro area that could help me out????

Not in KC but do you have an NTB nearby? They did mine & the alignment. Did a great job. Was pleasantly surprised. They earned some regular business. Got wife's tires there too. They actually had a selection for her weird size stuff onhand vs ordering nonsense at Discount.

I've called a couple of local places for me in Austin and was quoted the same buy both off road shops of 320 to install the billy 5100 (4), toytec aal, and shims. Seems decent enough to me.

 

OMG... $320.. Seriously, do it yourself! You are throwing your money away!

I will tell you what! I just looked up a plane ticket from Michigan to Austin. $275 round trip.. Fly me down there, buy some beers and i will do it for free! I could use a vacation!

I dont have a spring compressor and the one that Orielly's has is a piece of junk. I also have checked at all the places listed above and now NTB and they will not compress the springs for me if i just brought the springs and shocks in to them.

 

You say there spring compressors are junk? As long as they are not bent you should be good to go. Compress your spring. AND THEN TAKE THE TOP NUT OFF YOUR STRUT...... go to a NAPA

Well, I didn't say they did it free. I took mine there after problem getting one of the ball joints loose. They got me greasable uppers & installed the shocks & did the AAL because the damn leaf spring nut was messed up too.

NTB did do mine. I brought the 5100s & the TRDs in & they swapped the springs/hats from TRDs to 5100s for 50.00. This was when I was gonna do the swap myself before a couple of problems.

They worked with me & did what I wanted done & did it right the first time. That means a lot nowadays.

 

Don't you have an Autozone or Pep Boys near you? They will "rent" you heavy-duty spring compressors for free. You pay a deposit and get it back when you return the tool. My local tire shop quoted me 3 hours labor for the install and alignment at over $300. I did it myself on my gravel driveway with a socket set, the spring compressors from Autozone, and a couple crescent wrenches, in two hours. I saved enough money to buy a welder...or 1/3 of an ARB Bullbar...or...

I talked to my dad and he isnt busy this weekend so i think im going to drive to his place and do it there since he has the tools for it. I will check into Autozone down by his place for sure. Thanks for the input.
