With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Makes sense for what it is. That 'technology' isn't any different than using EQUAL in your tires for wheel balancing.

I wouldn't consider that as a fix for driveline vibrations due to poor driveline allignment.

It would suck to get a face full of Mercury when installing if the ruberband broke.

The idea is good though.

Seems to me like it would put some strain on the shaft

How would you know if your driveshaft needs balancing? Vibrations could be caused by a multitude of things.

Exactly.... The driveshafts are already balanced from the factory.

So technically - using this product for anything other than an 'out of balance' driveshaft would only hide the original problem.

Sound Theory

This type of device is pretty highly regarded in the motorcycle crowd. They are made for the clutch and flywheel. They are advertised as a cheaper alternative to engine balancing to smooth out a rough running hog. They are recommended by a couple of respected books on increasing V-Twin performance.

Most definately...

My husband and I just replaced the harmonic balancer on our corvette with an aftermarket unit that's liquid filled (off hand, I don't know what the liquid is).
