My 2010 4x4 access cab just lit up the ABS and Traction Control lights; constantly on. I lifted the front 1.5" and leveled the rear with add-a-leaf... 4 years before this happened.

My truck was using ABS and traction control a lot over this last winter. We had a lot of snow plus my local roads and steep driveway remain covered in packed snow well beyond the other roads due to shade trees. But, the same day that everything thawed out, and I no longer needed the ABS and traction control as much, the abs and traction control went out.

I'm wondering if I damaged the wires or sensors... we shall see soon.

Variables that I suppose could have stretched a wire or damaged something else:

    1) I did slide all the way down my driveway a month before the failure and planted the truck firmly into a snowbank across the road.
    2) I put the truck into more-than-usual articulation and full-lock the other day when entering my driveway from an unusual angle. (Seriosuly, my driveway is that steep.)
    3) Sharp temperature change came right before failure. Possibly the thawed snow? ie: water and salt in connections?
    4)dumb luck

Same problem. Stopped by the dealer and they said nothing can be done.

Reviving this because it's either going to cause me to get into an accident or give me a heart attack! Coming down a mountain road with our pop up trailer down a pretty steep grade turning right the thing goes off and nearly sends us into the oncoming traffic. I'm referring it to Vehicle Unstability! I was holding my line nicely then "Holy Shit"! No warning just suddenly you loose control for a second or two. Unbelievable. To make matters worse while I'm trying to catch my breath my wife chimes in and say I was going too fast!!! *&^%! So maybe it's designed for her? I have not done the calibration but it seems that doesn't fix it in a lot of cases and I like to avoid the dealer like the plague especially to give them more of my hard earned $$. I'm going to try the disable VSC at startup. So I just hold the button down while I start it? Hold for 3 seconds? does it blink or something to confirm its disabled?

There is a DIY method in the pdf in the OP to recalibrate the VSC zero point

As far as turning VSC " OFF " , at a stop , push and hold the VSC button for 3-5 seconds , the VSC OFF and AUTO LSD lights will illuminate , keep holding until the AUTO LSD light goes out leaving only the VSC OFF light illuminated

The system will reset if you press the VSC button again or turn off the truck

Okay I was able to turn it off by holding it down. You know I recall pushing the button turning both off in theory and the VSC still kicked in when pushing it. I'll have to test it when I have a chance. As far as the Zero Calibration PDF goes, after reading through it seems one would need the Intelligent Tester Device?

I just had both my CEL and "TRAC OFF" light go on this morning after doing a U-turn. My truck has a 6 inch lift with 33's.

Although when i drove my truck with the CEL/TRAC OFF light, i didnt experience any brake pulsating or correcting of any kind. It seems its just 'on' but will still have it checked out. And i will bring op's PDF to the installing shop (not a dealer) for reference if they have the know how and tools to fix the issue. When i called the shop, they told me its either the alignment wasnt done correctly, or i will need the whee/tirel calibrator from hypertech.

On my 2011 DC OR TrD, the VSC happened quite a bit after my lift and tires. As the tires wore, the VSC kicked in less. Now after 65k miles and new Nitto's, its doing the dreaded VSC lockup again. Man, this is so dangerous. When I decide to sell the truck, I can't conscientiously do so until this is resolved. But more so it's just dangerous for me too, period.

With mine, it's seems to be only on right hand turns, and is random, not necessarily related to the depth of the berm/turn or the acuteness of the turn's angle, or speed. Smooth or rough, no relation either.

Back in 2011, after the lift and tires I had it calibrated at the dealer. It didnt do squat!

Is there a way to disable the VCS and maintain the ABS? I know about the temporary disable feature, but it's a drag to have to do that everytime I get in and drive! And IIRC, this didn't always work. It would still lock up.

Off Road tow pac. GTCovers wetskinz seat covers, Direct wired Escort 9500xi, Leer 180 w/ARB awning, bed mat, extra d-rings, rear dif breather relocated, Weathertec mats, Elite front with Warn M8000-s and Rigid D2's, BAMF sliders, ABS killswitch, Kicker Hideaway sub, UltraGauge, ATO rear with flush mount duallys, FJ Trail Team black rims w/Duratracs.
I've got complete Old Man Emu with 886's and Dakar pack(front plate/winch, sliders, and rear plate) running 265 75 16 duratracs, got 3"+ of lift and had no problems for 20k miles.
Then I blew a tire so I swapped out my spare(never used at this point yet) and bought a new tire so I had two new dt's on the rear and the two up front had 20k on them. I think I had two random times where my cel came on briefly maybe with abs and a couple other light(can't recall now as it's been awhile). Then that's about when this one particular right hand curve in the road set off the vsc(scary shit!) on a handful of occasions. About then I did an oil change and rotated my tires(newer ones now up front) and have not had that corner set it off since even with pushing past the speed that used to set it off to see if I could induce it. WTF!?! Could the slight bit of pitch from the minute difference in diameter of a new tire and a tire with 20k really make the difference or is there some other variable at play here?

I should reiterate, it was my "TRAC OFF" and CEL lights that were on, VSC is the one with the button where you can turn it on and off, que no?

Now that I think about it only on right hand sweepers does it do it. It's not very often anymore and only when I'm cutting it pretty hard but DAMN it's annoying as hell. BTW I did switch it off a couple of times and cant get it to happen once I do that but yea what a PITA to do that every time.

Yeah that was a mistake, I just deleted my post before you quoted it. Oops.

Mine all of the sudden does it in almost every sharp curve now. I feel like I'm driving a $500 pos rather than a $30,000 tacoma. If I can't fix this I'm just going tie a jumper wire into the red and black wire and watch it burn.
