Ever think about cutting one out of a salvaged/junkyard truck and welding it back in? Assuming you don't still have the original....

Yeah stock xmember is long gone. I could track one down but
looking at the original xmember, looks like I'd be better off with a piece of square stock. reason being the filler plates are capping the cuts. ruggedT suggested 2x3 square, 3/16 wall

just have toyota cut your xmember out and cap it before they do the swap. don't see why they would force you to go stock

Neither do I that was the dealers comment, this is after they commented how the cut cross member rusted my frame during the inspection.

so you guys like wheeling with your DBs? im just curious since it seems like the DB doesnt allow you to flex at all, the #1 thing that turned me away from it (I originally was going to go with a 6" RC DB lift) was the db itself and having to hack away at the factory crossmember. ive been lurking here in this thread for awhile lol, lots of good looking trucks with DBs, just not for me :D

    Yes
Why do you think a DB limits flex ? The only limitation with any lift set up is your ball joints or uniballs. A DB truck with an aftermarket leaf pack can flex wayyyy more than say a 3" lift. The DB brackets themselves are actually stronger steel than the OE frame steel by a mile...if you ever want to scare yourself go take a saw to you frame the OE steel is butter...which is why these frames twist and flex so damn much :/

I guess it was just from a lot of pictures I had seen just seemed like the front end had no flex at all

I can agree with this to a point. We rarely do any crawling here but there is massive amounts of mud to play in. And the stock gearing bogs a little with 35's. I would imagine the same issue would arise with deep snow wheeling too. The 285's work great in 4high for mud, especially if you disable the traction control.
