5100 Ride vs. TRD Billy

Hey,

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere... but I can't seem to find it. Can someone give me an idea what my '09 DC might ride like with front 5100's set at either 1.75" or 2.5" compared to the stock TRD Offroad Bilsteins? Much more firm at the 2.5" setting? Just about to pull the trigger on them, but don't wanna make the truck ride too rough (wifey will NOT likey).

I would not set them to 2.5, unless you are getting some new UCA's. There are a lot of people that have and have no vibes, but there are a lot of people that went to 2.5 and got some vibes. So you are taking a chance. An alignment is tough at 2.5 as well...

The ride at 1.75 is good, it is definitely a little tighter, and bounces a little more, but it is better than the soft feeling the front end has stock. I would go 1.75 it is a nice lift, pick me up front compared to the stock rake, and almost 99% no risk of alignment issues.

i recently upgraded from trd billys to 5100s at 1.75". there is no comparison. my truck rides a million times better. my fiance even noticed the much better ride. just do it, you nor your wife will regret it.

x2...I've got a 3" spacer on the front of my Taco and my tires won't camber out all the way so I have to get some new UCA's but I planned on doing that anyway...just have to get em sooner now cause i'm due for some new tires and I don't wanna fuck my new ones up

I just got mine a month or 2 back and set it at 2.5. Rides the same as stock.. Allignment is good. Wish I woulda waited and went with a full 3" and 285s.

I set mine one notch up to level it out. Used the stock front spring coils. Ride is firmed up and much less body roll in tight turns. Very happy with the suspension now. I really did not want to lift it as much as level it out and firm it up. 5100's all around did the trick. Helper springs in back for when I tow or haul a heavy load. They work too.

Its nice to know you like the 5100s but the information is useless unless you state the springs they are matched with.

I would like to know which factory springs you have with your 5100s? The TRD off road progressive, The TRD Sport or the SR5? The different will act different than one another when preloaded. I'm looking for personal experiance running the TRD Off Road springs ,X-cab, 4x4 at either 1.75" or 2.5"
