I'm considering lifting my '07 SR5 4x4, access cab. Currently I have 245/75 R16 tires. I'm planning on buying a 3" suspension lift. I want to put on 285/75 R16 BF Goodrich ATs on the stock rims. I've done my research and think everything should work out. Does anyone see any problems with my plans (especially the new tire size and stock rims)?

How wide are the 16" rims? Are they 7" wide?

If they are only 7" wide - you'll have to be very careful about how much tire pressure you run. You may have to run lower than recommended tire pressure to make sure the tread pattern is equal across the patch to allow your tires to wear evenly (and last longer). Too much air pressure and you might wear down the center of the tire a lot sooner.

    I had 7" wide stock taco rims (96 tacoma) that I put 32x11.50's on - and I ran 26psi (MT's) in them.
Besides that - I had to take my wheels/tires to SEARS, they were the only shop (at that time - 7 years ago) that would install those tires on a short rim.

Technically - you should have 8" wide rims.

I like how your truck looks. What are the specs on your rims. Do you get any rubbing with the 33s

i did some minor trimming to get rid of the rubbing....

some of the flemsy plastic wheel well had to be trimmed some....

my rims are 16X8 and my speedo is off by about 3mph at 70mph.... it reads 70 and according to my gps im running 73.

exactly what kind of lift are you doing? i did a 3" spacer toytec lift.

I'm also looking a 3" toytech spacer lift...and i've been looking at truxxx.com. Still haven't made final decision. I want to have all my bases covered (lift, rims, and tires) before I start making purchases.

I have 285/75 16 Kumho Roadventure's on my stock alloys. No trimming, only rub the UCA'son lock to lock turns.

Huh, I just put on some nittos 285/75 on my stock rim 16 inch and i noticed that my tire was still dirty on the edges after going off road and getting back on the pavement. Tire pressure is too much! the centers were cleaned by the pavment but the edges were not? What pressure should I run?? would that take care of a slight vib between certain speeds??
