Might want to read the fine print. What is the "lifetime" of the shock? Is there any stipulations?

From what one guy told me, shocks need a rebuild/replace every 3 years (I'm guessing this is dependent on your use of them). Can you bomb around like crazy on the Bilsteins and get them replaced free of charge when they need regular maintenance? I'm guessing no.

Yes, of course there are stipulations, as with most warranties. Any signs of abuse will void warranty for Bilstein & OME shocks. Bent, broken, gouged piston rod.

I had Billy HDs on my old Toyota 1/2 ton pickup. This was my work truck, hauling & going to job sites. The rear shocks died after 4 years, about 82k miles. I sent them in. Bilstein sent back new HD shocks. The shocks were not abused, just USED.

Why is the toytec ultimate easier to install than the ome?

The 5100 are adjustable? Would it screw with your alignment every time you adjust them?

Why is the toytec ultimate easier to install than the ome?
Front shocks come fully assembled, shock, spring, & shock mount. With the OME kit, the factory shock mounts must be removed & installed on the OME setup.

    The 5100 are adjustable?
Only the front shocks. Standard 5100 have 4 settings for spring perch height. The Ultimate kit is an adjustable coil over with spanner wrench. Adjustable without removing entire shock assembly from vehicle.

Would it screw with your alignment every time you adjust them?
    Generally, Yes.

So installing the toytec ultimate kit would not require a spring compressor, correct?

Thanks for all this information.. After reading this entire post I am still confused on which one is better. So can i ask this question, i DJ and have to fill my entire bed with DJ Equipment. Does a lot of weight play a role in what type of lift you should get?
And 90% of my driving is city/street and 10% off road.

the thing i like about the OME is that they field test the hell out of them... they seem to be the closest thing to stock with minimal adjustments and a much higher perforamnce.

Upgrading springs and shocks is always a better choice over spacers.

No, your rear load capacity does not play a role in which kit you get since we recommend only the AAL for the rear lifting option with the Tacoma's.

I would go with a spacer to try out lifting your truck, I've got a 3 inch spacer on my of my forum.

See what you think. If you don't like, you can upgrade..

I soaked up as much info on this topic as I could before making a decision. What it came down to, for me, was the adjustablity of the Toytec coilovers. I had heard that the OME ride was better (smoother), but I still felt being able to dial the height to exactly where I wanted it was more important. Though I did opt for the OME Dakars for the rear. So I guess I just split it down the middle. Best of both worlds. :D

How do I feel now that it's on the truck? I couldn't be happier. The ride is great and I feel the truck drives better than it did when stock. Between these two setups I don't think there is a bad choice. If price is your consideration: go OME. If you want some room to adjust for stance or tire size: Toytec's the way to go. Other than that it's just a coke vs. pepsi kind of thing.

The guys at the shop that installed mine said they'd seen alot of OME lifts for our trucks. This was a first for the Toytecs and they said they were impressed. Regardless, I am really happy with my decision and feel all the damn time I spent researching paid off. Yes, I drove my fiancee crazy, but she's loving it too.

DOn't think Toytec has UCAs- but if you plan on cranking the Toytec coilovers up to 2.5 or greater...You should think long and hard about getting some sort of UCA.

LR has been getting alot of good results recently for cheaper than TC's....I love my TCs...It's all a matter of opinion.

The tacomas can go either way. But if your real picky or you just insist on having everything exactly perfect for alignment, you should get them.

    They are a nice addition.
