Rough Country Lift--do i need shocks??

Does anyone know if i need new front shocks when installing the Rough Country 2.5" lift on my 2001 Tacoma. this kit came with rear shackles and shocks, and front spacers, on the Rough Country web site, it says nothing about getting new shocks for the front, so i don't know

 

It's not needed. Even if you do upgrade to better shocks in the front, it's still going to ride like shit because it's a spacer lift.

When you guys say, spacer lifts ride like shit, are you refering to your normal stop & go trafic to & from work? or your weekend romp through your favorite mudhole, creek, hills etc.....


The ride cant be that bad for everday driving....

No, it's not THAT bad.

 

Your right. It's NOT that bad, however, after a couple months you'll really notice the shift in ride quality. You'll start to feel EVERY bump, pothole, etc.

That's how what happened to me...

 

Try a pothole or a speedbump going a decent speed and you'll know what we're talking about.

 

got the lift installed, and i don't find any differnce in ride comfort, but i might in a few months

 

Could you put up a picture of your truck with this lift. Would you recommend it. I was thinking about getting it.

 

I have a 2.5 spacer in the front with my old shocks works fine. I only notice a ride difference when im in the hills when I use full travel then I notice the stiffness, but works great for me and my budget.

Overall the lift is really good for the money. The ride is a little rough at times, but that's also because I have E rated tires. But yeah, I'd recommend this lift if you have a tight budget.

What about the back shocks.. I have a chance to get this kit from a guy who ordered the wrong one but he did not get the rear shocks.. Will my rear factory shocks work with the kit on my TRD sport ?

Is this for a 1gen like the Op or a 2014 like you have listed in your profile?

Your stock shocks won't work with any lift in the rear. Maybe(and I mean maybe)a 1" lift? But not anything more than that.

Don't be cheap. Your truck deserves better.
