01 Tacoma Prerunner with over 170K Miles on it.

I am looking to replace all the shocks and struts on this vehicle.
The vechile currently has its original shocks. Hella old now I'm sure.

I found a really good deal on some KYB GR-2's but was wondering if it would be worth spending a couple hundred more on the Trek Master R/T's?

I mostly use my vehicle for regular city and highway driving and I don't do much off roading and was wondering if I'd even notice a difference or perhaps the KYB's are better?

Any info would be appreciated, thank you!

Have you looked into the Bilstein 5100's? Around $400 for all 4 may be cheaper since you have a first gen taco. The front ones are adjustable 0-2.5 inches. Since your mainly highway you can leave them at 0, and if you decide to lift later, BAM no problem. Check out downsouthmotorsports. Talk with Sonny let him know your a TW member.

$400 is kind of out of my price range right now. The KYB's are $100 for the set of 4 and the Trek Master are $270.. would rather save the money but if KYB is significantly inferior I'd go with the Trek Master.. Thats what I need to know.. Thanks

Sorry not to familiar with the KYB's or Trek Master. I know has the Trek Master. I'm sure someone will chime in to help you out.

i dont know much about trek master either, but do know enough about bilstein and i can tell you if you spend $270 on 4 trek masters when for less than an extra $50 you could get 4 5100's then your a fool. go w/ the 5100's

The 5100s seem nice but i dont do off roading. the truck has over 170,000 miles on it and I just need shocks that are as good as the stocks. would the kyb gr2 be adequate or are they junk?
