Quick question... I used this guide to install my aal. I didnt really pay attention on how long each end of the aal was. After the install noticed my driver side aal sticks out forward more than the passenger side. I will switch one this weekend to make even. Should the longer part of the aal be towards the front? Looking at your pics the longer ends on the front. Correct me if I'm wrong thanks

I have the same setup and the rear will sit a little higher. The rake/stance is about the same as the factory stance. I didn't go higher on the Eibachs because I didn't want any alignment issues since I didn't opt for new UCA's.

Some say you should, while others dont. I havent done an AAL Install that adversly affected the front geometry.

I measured from the ground to the bottom of the fender flare before and after the install.
    Passenger side: before- 37 1/2"
    after - 40"

    Drivers side: before- 36"
    after - 39 1/2"

The leaf I bought was only suppose to be a 2" lift. The only thing I can come up with is my leafs were shot and already sagging a couple inchs. And after AAL it brought the original leafs back to where they were suppose to be and added another 2".

By the way great write up Chris

After a week my rear hasn't droped any at all. On the front I measured from the ground across the center of the wheel and it measures around 35" on both sides. The rear measures about 40". It is defently higher in the rear. What kind of leveling kit do I need to buy or is there another option?

Great information! However, I am still trying to figure out what the TSB springs are?

Regular leaf springs for the 2005 thru 2011 only have 3 leafs, 2 + overload. The TSB leaf pack has 4 leaf springs, 3 + overload.

For 2012, the SR5, base and TRD Off Road have 3 leafs, the TRD Sport has 4 leafs.

Thanks, I have the 3 leafs. Does the TSB pack provide lift? In order to do a 2" aal do I need to have the TSB pack?

The TSB does provide some lift but that wasn't the purpose. The TSB was issued by Toyota because the leaf packs that came on the Tacoma were soft and wouldn't support a load. The 4 leaf pack does provide some lift over the 3 leaf pack but a 2" AAL will put you about 2" over where ever you are at right now.

Ok, does the 2" aal also correct the issue support load issue? Final Question of the day. :)

It will help but if your leaf pack is already tired, the AAL is just a band aid. It'll help support a load for a while but will sag fairly quickly. If your leaf pack still has a lot of life left, the AAL will help a lot because the AAL will support the existing leaf pack rather than being the only leaf in the leaf pack actually doing anything if that makes sense.

More newbie questions here: I've got an '05 Taco DCSB TRD 4x4 with non-TSB springs and want to do AAL's and have a few questions:

    1) I've seen the AAL kits on eBay that have either 20" or 32" leaves. Which one do I need? What's the functional difference between the two different lengths?

    2) Most kits I've seen for my truck do not have new U-bolts. Do I need them?

    3) Are there any of the kits (or suppliers) on eBay that I should avoid?

BTW: Part of the project is going to be installing a set of 5100's from Downsouth Motorsports.

Vice grips on the bottom. Once it starts tightening up, you'll be able to release the vice grips and the tension on the bolt will hold it in place.

    I just got mine installed.

    1.5" Toytec AAL.

Truck is a 2012 Sport with OEM 4 leaf pack, and Billies up front at 1.75" and 265/70/17's. Picture was taken 5 miles after install

The whole install only took 90 minutes, and that was by myself, not too bad, thanks to these great directions!
