Yes agreed. I've thought about this. It is a bit more dangerous. I'm just weary about bending those hard lines at all.

Even if you dont ratchet them up. Clamping the top two together with c-clamps helps a lot in keeping the holes aligned and giving you just a little more clearance.

I just did my AAL today, took 3 hours doing it by myself but wasn't too bad. The 2nd side definitely took less time than the 1st, and I'm kinda surprised but the ride is actually better than it was before. I don't know if it's because the OEM springs where overloaded with my cap on the back or what, but it feels smoother now. Only thing I'm wondering is how long does it take the springs to settle?

I think ideally its best to use new, but I reused mine as they were new in november. There's plenty of thread left for a single AAL, don't think a 3 pack type would have worked with the OEM one's though.

Mine are not even two months old and it is just a single leaf. Will I need a new center screw?

Mine came with a new center bolt. My old bolt was cut to even with the nut, so there was no way I could have re-used it even if I'd wanted to. Your AAL's didn't come with new ones?

Great write up! I have a question for anyone carry weight all the time with a canopy. I'm always bottoming out with my stock leafs. How much extra weight do you think I could handle with this added aal?

They dont increase the weight you can carry, but you wont bottom out anymore. :)

I put Fabtec 1.5's on mine and it lifted the rear about an inch with my cap. It's a heavy sucker, must be about 200lbs or so. I think most people on here would recommend Toytec's, but mine seems to work well. The ride is good, but I can't say how the reliability is since I've only had it 3 days.

just bought the 5 lug lift from fat bobs and it came with shocks, aal, and spacers for the front. A few questions...
Is it completely necessary to remove the rear shocks completely from the axel? I got antsy looking at the box sitting in my room so i cracked and put on the shocks...they were a PITA to get o n and i just might cry if i have ot do it again :p
And for torqueing the nuts do you use an air compressor of some sort? how do you check it? i usually put it on as tight as i can and a little more.

im not going to do the install until next week but just wandering.

It makes it easier with the shocks out of the way. Also, use a torque wrench.

How long would you say until the leaf "settles". The guy @ 4wheelparts told me about 500 miles. Anyone have any other guesstimates?

It's been bout 500 for me and I still have the height of the 2" but I think I need to retorque them cause I feel the rap back is back It was worse before the aal. But I think it may be due to me having a manual tranny. Alotta tourqe in first gears

Ok Chris i gotta question for you. On the piece that goes under the axle that the u-bolts go threw. Is there a right or wrong way to put these back on? I noticed mine has a star(*) stamped into them and i didnt know if this was a mark indicating wich direction they were to be installed? I hope i have them installed correctly? Thanks
