Lowering OME Dakar Leaf Springs

My stock leaf springs are shot on my 2000 ext. cab prerunner. So I've been looking at the OME Dakar leaf springs, but they have a 2.25" lift on them and I do not want a lifted leaf spring that much. Right now my front suspension has a 1.5" lift on it. The rear has sagged so bad I've got a 1" lift block on it to level things out. So, has anyone do removed a leaf out of an OME leaf pack to lower the rear, or do you think this would work? The description of the springs on a website I read says you can remove the second from the bottom for a more comfortable ride, but does that lower the ride height? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Yes. You can pull out a spring to lower it.

I have never done it myself, but I know a couple guys who did. They havent had problems or any issues. You loose carrying capacity, as you remove the Over load leaf.

Get a measurement and have some custom built. I know Alcans do custom rear leafs to you specifications.

I just got off the phone with both Wheeler's and TRDParts4U, and the Dakars are backordered across the globe until mid november.

Just a heads up if you needed them soon, like I do.

I might go with allpro, instead.

I've seen a few people on TN remove the third leaf from the top to lower the dakars. I think it was good for .5 to .75 inches.

Well I got everything done. I put on...
- OME 880 front coils
- OME Comfort Struts
- OME trim spacer
- Toytec 3/4" lift top plates
- OME leaf springs with the overload removed
- OME shackle/leaf bushings
- Toytec Proportioning valve bracket
- OME Exhaust hanger bracket

Everything went togather fairly easy. The leafs were very easy to replace. I made for sure to put the taller leaf spring on the driver side.

I had recently replaced the struts on this truck with some Tokico struts from Toytec and I was able to do so with some rented strut compressors from Autozone. On the other hand you can't install new springs using these cheap strut compressor on these OME struts because they are wider in diameter. So I ended up taking them to a shop in town to have them built for $40.00.

The truck looks good and with 2.25" of lift in the front the rear sets a good inch higher in the rear even with the overload removed, so for now I threw a couple of sacks of sack crete in the bed to break the leaf springs in faster.

As for the ride, which is the only reason I went with these OME suspension components. I truly couldn't be happier, the ride is amazing, very smooth but very stable at the same time.
