Bilsteins and Rough Country Suspension

Need your help please.

I have the Rough Country 2.5" suspension lift on my truck right now. http://www.roughcountry.com/toyota_95-04_tacoma_2.html
I am going to need new shocks soon and I want to go with the Bilstein 5100's on all 4 corners http://downsouthmotorsports.com/i-13...djustable.html

So, Here are the questions.

1. If I get the adjustable 5100's in the front, do I just remove the 2.5" Easy Lift strut extension that came with the Rough Country and then just set the lift of the Bilsteins to the equivelant of the 2.5" strut extension and pull out the strut extender? (stock springs on there as far as I know)

2. For the rear, since there is a 1.5" shackle lift is there going to be any issue with bolting on the Bilsteins out of the box?

Any issues you forsee? I'll do all the work myself, except compress the springs. I'll pay a shop to put them in a wall press and put the new shocks in.

YES! All that should be in there is the 5100 and the coil.
2. For the rear, since there is a 1.5" shackle lift is there going to be any issue with bolting on the Bilsteins out of the box?
You may need an extension for the rears. I think those shocks are stock height. Some one will chime in for sure.

So, I'm wondering, about the 5100's and setting it to 2.5 inches of lift. What does that do to the spring? And what does that do to the performance of the shock itself?

Do I need to get a new spring than the stock that is on there?

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

It pre loads the spring to get lift. OEM spring should be fine, unless its worn out. If its worn out, you can replace them with an OME spring (880, 881, or 882 for heavy duty apps).

Not trying to be an idiot here.... but that extension. Where does in mount? To the shock? Or does it mount to the frame where the current shock is mounted?

HAha, disregard. They would screw onto the end of the shock shaft, but I forgot that first gens have a different style. You won't need that type of extension. You may want to just give downsouth a call and see what they say.
