ground clearance

I've search but could not find any info, my question is would i get more ground clearance with a 3" lift and 33" tire or 6" lift with 35" tire thanks in advance

 

Well with the 6" and 35 you'll get more ground clearance but the amount of travel will stay the same.

 

Larger tires = more clearance

 

^ he's right, also in order to have larger tires you need a taller lift.

 

if you are 2wd you can get spindles and run them along with you coilover lift and 33's

 

truck is a 06 4x4, i did more search and alot of people say that with the 6"in kit youll lose ground clearance because of the drop bracket so im a little confused

 

Ground clearance is all based on the TIRE SIZE.

I'm not familiar with the 6" lifts...but it appears the drop brackets are what support the lower control arms/etc.... The relation to the axle/hub is still the same in terms of ground clearance. The distance from the wheel/tire mounting location and the size of the tire - is the ground clearance.

 

With the drop bracket. The differential and lower control arms are supported by a bracket. With this style lift the bracket is still going to hang low not giving you any clearance. your best bet is getting some coilovers, upper control arms, and going to 33 inch tires.

This is a drop bracket lift. notice the part that says fabtech its also a 6 inch lift.

I don't know exact measurements but think of it this way - lets say stock rear diff clearance is 10" as a base. A 3" lift raises the truck, not the rear axle and diff. So the rear diff clearance will still be 10". Add a 33" inch tire to replace the stock 31" tire and you've raise the truck and the diff in this case by 1". Now your rear diff clearance will be 11". Same deal with a 6" lift. Still only 10" clearance until you add 35" tires and now you've added 2" larger radius tires to give 2" more ground cleanance.

The front diff is a slightly different story. Since it's not a solid axle but IFS. The front diff will be raised with spacers or coilover lifts. A 3" lift will raise the front diff 3" (front stock 10" to 13") since it would be raised along with the truck it's bolted to. The 6" drop bracket lift on the fabtech lowers the front diff by 4" while raising the truck 6" so you only gain 2" additional front diff ground clearance. Again tires will raise the truck and diff by the additional radius.
