Bilstein 5100 C-clip

Just got my lift kit today. It includes Bilstein 5100s for the front and 1.5" cast iron blocks for the rear.

After a close look at the 5100s, I am a little worried about the small size of the C-clips used to set the height of the strut. There could easily be over 1000lbs of stress on these C-clips when hitting bumps at high speed. The spring seat sits nice on the C-clip, but I just wonder about the stregnth of the design. After all, the clip is no thicker than a dime. Has anyone heard of this failing?

When I took mine apart to redo my lift, I found that the spring seat had actually slipped over and wedged itself over the c-clip.... kinda scary

If installed correctly, its plenty strong. HOWEVER, IF its not seated propperly, you can have what happened to TacoNut, Myself (injury involving a trip to the ER, and a cast), or, if it fails on the road, loss of control of vehicle.
