2" vs 3" leveling and alignment?

    Hi All. I'm a newbee here, so first, Howdy! I've got a 2nd gen. (08) DC 4x4 and put in the cheap-o 3" strut spacer leveling kit and don't like the alignment issues that have come with it. It was also higher than I expected (no, I probably don't know how to use a ruler!) and I've decided I don't really need/want that much lift. Wondering if a 2" would be much better on alignment or if I have to go the more expensive route with the Bilstein 5100s. I don't really want to (have the money to) do the UACs after spending so much on the truck!!!

    The 5100's would give a much better ride. And setting them on the 1.75" setting is much better on the alignment. Welcome to TW! :)

    Thanks! So, it seems to me that you'd have to realign each time you changed setting on the 5100s--is that right? My guess is you pick one, align it, then stick with it? Forgive my ignorance...

    Any other mods needed for the 5100s? And does the installation require a spring compression or anything? I had no trouble putting in the spacers, but not sure if the 5100s would be as easy. Any thoughts?

    Thats correct.

    You need a spring compressor to install.

    Hey one more thought--is it fine to have the stock bilsteins in the back with the 5100s in the front?

    Yeah, but the 5100's are a huge upgrade over the OEM ones...You wouldnt regret getting them for the rear too.

    Thats the exact setup I have except I also got Eibach springs (instead of reusing the stock coils) and set the front Bilsteins at 0 and let the coils lift the front 1.6"
