2.5" lift and 285's

So i have been seeing more and more 2.5" lifts with 285 tires. I always thought you needed at least 3"s of lift to fit 33" tires. Is it because they are running 285/70's and not 285/75s? Are they doing more trimming? I have 32s right now and want to run some 285/70s eventually. Should I just get some 5100s or shed out the cash for a 3" coil over. Thanks for the help guys.

I wanna know the same thing, i wanna just get the billies on all corners but then i was wondering if the 285/70's would make me trim alot. i dont wanna rub while wheeling or even flexing AND make a full turn.

I have 285/75/16's with a 2.5" lift. With stock wheels, I have minimal frame rub. I am about to install aftermarket wheels with 4.5" backspacing on Friday, and I will need to do some trimming inside the fenders. Nothing structural though.

yes its a stiffer ride but u want bigger tires u will have to sacrifice. U will still have to trim your inner fenders, its not a big deal i just posted some pics of what i did to clear 285/75/16's type tire rubs in the search box.

I'm running 285/75/16s with 16x8 4.5"BS, slight rubbing at full turns but I haven't trimmed at all. It's all about the rims.

On stock wheels, you only need wheel spacers to clear the UCA. You also need to trim a little but it's not that bad.

2.5" inches of lift with 285/75/16 tires and wheel spacers.
