Do you regret lifting your truck?

When I got the truck I knew I wanted to get a small lift. Yesterday I stopped by the dealer to drop off some paperwork they needed for my trade and I saw the sales managers truck. I can' not believe how nice this thing is. It is tricked out!! Everything is awesome on this truck.He was busy with customers and told me to check out his cardomain page for the information on his truck. I was thinking 3" lift, now I am thinking 6" but seems like too much. Does anyone regret doing this to their truck?

I think this is the best Tacoma I have seen in person.

 

everyone is going to have their own opinion. i regret lifting my truck 3" the cheap way, thats why im taking it off and going back to stock. some guys love it and have no problem with the added maintenance that comes with a lift, but i do. i honestly think that a 6" lift is easier on the truck than a 3" lift, but you have to cut the crossmember which sucks.

with a 3" lift on 4x4 you gotta worry about cv joint/boot angles and them ripping on you. plus you gotta see if you need aftermarket uca's and all that. you dont need all that with a 6" lift. again, its each person's personal preference. i didnt care for the lift as to how my ride quality went down and all that. but it sure does look dammmmm good!!!

 

I used the TSB AAL and 5100's up front and love the way it looks and rides.

 

this is what im doing in january. tsb, 5100's all around and front set at .85"

 

I agree... I've been contemplating going back to stock for now. I really regret passing up the XR when I bought my truck!

 

eh im not a huge fan of the XR's, they look sweet but not my thing. id like to kinda get my trd SPORT to look more SPORTY lol

 

I need to get the rears done still, but I did the 1.75 setting and it is just about level with the TSB AAL.

i regreted lifting my 2004 grand cherokee but my 3 wranglers i loved it no problems im new to toyotas so im on the fence

 

i am wondering if these wide tires require a 10" lift? 10 is way to much for me. I like the way the wide wheels look. I don't like the tall skinny looking tires.

 

that there looks like a 6" lift, not a 10"

 

how is the ride after the lift? does it handle the same? what are the other things you guys saying comes up in a lift? The sales manager at Red Mccombs Toyota said he would talk to me on Monday when he has a minute, he will call me. Would be great if you guys give me some information to ask him questions.

 

No, but I do miss the 18mpg I was getting. I'm getting 16.5mpgs now. But I knew that was going to happen whenever I purchased the lift. And I love the way it rides/looks/performs! Way better than stock!

I am really surprised by the comfort and stabilty of this lift. It can be used as a daily driver and can go off road. I don't get beat up going over bumps and takes curves really well for such a big lift. The steering is easy and I don't have to fight to keep it going down the road. I dont really regret doing my lift because my lift looks awesome looking but I kindof wish that I kept saving up so i could get the LT kit faster.

But This is perfect for now. I love being higher than most of the Tacoma's here in Auburn

I need to post some new pics, I just had the body lift done. The video below shows the truck with the full 10" lift.

 

I have planned on a 6" from day one, but earlier this year my original tires were going bald. I had to get new tires and decided to get 265/75/16s and the 5100s set at 2.5". Basically I tried to "settle" with that lift and regret it pretty bad. I spent way more money than I should have. The tires were around 750 m/b/a, and the 5100s were like 280ish. I wish I would have just got some cheap tires and not got the shocks and just waited for the 6". I coulda used the money I spent on the 5100s and tires for something more important...or just put it aside towards the 6".

Long story short- get the lift you want, and DONT try to settle. That goes for anything on your truck though.

 

just got off the phone with fourwheelparts here in SATX. after picking myself up off the floor, I am thinking a 3" lift may be my best bet. Not sure I want to drop the much money on a lift. I thought it would cost maybe $3,500 for all. But that barely covers the cost of the wheels and tires. . .
