rear leaf squeak....

anyone have any problems with their rear leafs squeaking pretty bad??? and if so how did u fix it?

 

Yea mine did. i just pulled the springs apart and put some high resistance push out grease on the friction pads.

 

Get under there with your hose and blast the crap outta them really hard. After that spray some silicon spray between the leafs on both sides. They should be quiet after that. You likely got a bit of dirt in there making the noise.

 

go get spring tsb done had mine changed from three to four leaf pack and all new shocks under warranty 09 dc 4x4 sport. if the dealer does not want to do it call toyota directly i had to.

 

To add to this. I used a big screwdriver and used it as a wedge and hammered them in between the leafs to get them spread far enough apart to remove the friction pads. I then cleaned them up with soap and water and then lubed them up. Then reinstalled them and removed the screwdriver. Just make sure that the leafs close back up properly because you may not have gotten the pad to sit properly in the whole. It's hard to see with all the grease around it.

 

Don't know how many mile's you have on your truck but this TSB cover's it for 3 years 36,000 mile's under warranty they replace the spring silencer pads.

my TSB springs squeeked after every run..but always went away after hosing down and washing my taco..every weekend the same thing over and over haha untill i get a set of aftermarket springs...now, my bed squeeks at the bed bolt mounts..until of course, i wash my truck

 

Not a bad idea but they'll squeak eventually as well if he plays in mud or watery sand.

To the op. Where in Fl do you live? If it's close enough I would be happy to help you lube up your springs.

i already have 4 leafs..... just not the tsb lol i got a toytec aal, and jason im down in venice. about an hour south of tampa and 5 hours south of you lol
