The ride is a little softer than the the icons i had, but they rebound way to quickly. If I drive a tire of a curb or something the suspension tops out quickly with a thud when the shock tops out. Will these springs wear in a little to be a little softer?

Thats the same problem that I am having with my procomp shock/springs. Reason why I am going to use the spindles with the 5100's set at 0". Hopefully smooth everything out. Are you running aftermarket UCA's or the stock ones? Not sure if that would help out?

no. the problem is the TRD bilsteins do not have enough up travel with the Eibach lift springs installed on them. be careful, dont beat on them too hard and rip the shaft through the top of the shock body.

Edit: thats supposed to say down travel.

The OEM Bilstiens are not up to the task of dampening the higher spring rate. 5100's should do a much better job

The problem is the rebound damping of the oem shocks not the limited travel of the UCAs. The shocks don't get longer due to the springs so I am not maxing out down travel with the ucas.

Chris is right. Any one who wants to sell a good condition set of front 5100s let me know.

For those spindles (which is a great choice) set aside a good 7-8 hours or more for install, but after all that will be well worth it.

To the op I am running the eibachs with 5100's and don't feel that problem

didnt say anything about uca's in my post up there did I  are the eibach springs stock length? If they are a lift spring then you are infact probably at the upper limit of travel with the TRD Bilstein shocks. I'm not saying chris is wrong. I just dont see how you can put the eibach springs on the TRD shocks and not have limited down travel of your suspension....

the stance is great, the install was a little difficult as the springs have to be compressed a ton to fit them on the shock. They are about 2.5 inches longer than the stock coil. They ride pretty good, to be perfect there needs to be a shock installed with much stiffer rebound damping, which the 5100s will provide. I am happy with them though. When I blow my stock shocks I may upgrade to 5100s or if I can find a good deal on some used ones then I may buy them.
The eibachs ride a little softer than the icons I had, but the icons were much better controlled as they were dampened better to the springs. I like coilovers, but all the manufacturers use springs that are too stiff for this light of a truck if you use it for street use.

Yeah sonny is great, I have bought a lot off of them in the past. I know he has great prices. I am however not in a hurry to buy them since I just installed everything. If I can find a good deal on a used set I will buy them, but at this point I can wait until I blow my current shocks, if they ever blow. My truck is a lease so I really don't care too much at this point.

I am just about to install some Eibachs on the TRD Billies as well. I thought the 5100s were out of stock at DSM. So you say you ordered some this week from DSM? I would like to get some 5100s but I do not want to wait a couple months. Thanks.

any update on this? Just got off the phone with Toytech and they said that using the eibachs with the stock trd blue/yellow bilsteins would be fine...and not much different (if at all) from the eibachs and 5100's....was i fed a line?

running them on the stock trd bilsteins WOULD BE FINE. Who told you otherwise? The TRD shocks and the 5100s are not the same. The 5100s have a little stiffer damping and hold much more oil. I am running eibachs on the TRD billies right now and now that the springs are broken in it rides very nice.

I used the 5100s and my ride is fine as well. I would say one big advantage of the 5100s is the adjustability because I only got about 1" of lift with the Eibachs alone. Once I went up to .85 I got about 1.75" of lift. You can see my exact numbers in other Eibach threads.

Well this is my truck running just the eibachs on TRD bilsteins

I think I got more lift than most. I got about 1.75 inches because it sits dead level with the front. It sits about perfect height if you don't want to run a rear lift and sit level.

Your truck looks real good. Is your truck a PreRunner? I read though several threads and it appears the PreRunners get a little more lift than the 4x4s with just Eibachs alone.
