Bump for a cause.

Picked up the 2003 Tacoma and well she rides like shit. I just went through and replaced all the fluids and am going after the shocks next. She has 72000 miles on her and I'm pretty sure the shocks have never been touched.

I'm looking for little too no lift on her right now and am considering the 5100's as a straight across replacement. Will these work fine with the existing coils at the lowest setting? Or am I looking at potential problems?

Other option. Original Bilstein replacement's from TRDParts4u.

With 72,000 miles on it, You may way want to consider swaping out the springs, also. I think OME 880's will give a better ride while only provideing minimal lift ( 1" ), and combined with the 5100's, it should ride better than when new.

Thought about the springs as well. I taked to a few people and they said the springs should be good but... Might as well go big. No sense replacing the coils in another 10-20K miles. Well there goes my Xmas present. Between the Amsoil, soon to be shocks and coils, my suspension for the FJ is out the window. Fuggers.

Banshee...........the 5100's ride friggin awesome man. i replaced mine all the way around..................alos went with new wheelers rear leafs and ome 881 coils for a bit of lift. if you really wanted to stay stock height or close to it anyway......you can get a set of wheelers 4 leaf rears.....basically stock height springs, and ome 880 coils like chris mentioned, with billy 5100's all the way around, and you'll have a great ride. and at 72k............i gotta think your whole suspension is pretty worn..............mine only had 46k on it when i got it and everything was shot!!

Ok, the leafs are way out of my price range now. I can do the Billie's front and rear with the OME 880's or 881's not but the leafs... Not now.

you may wanna stick with the ome 880's then......cause the 881 are gonna give you around 2 inches of lift or so....................thats what they did for my double cab. the rears may not be necessary now, but if you start to have axle wrap and all, if you dont wanna pay for the new springs, you can get some helper springs at autozone for around $25. reason im saying stay with the 880 coils is that with the 881 up front, and no new springs or aal in the rear, the front will sit alot higher.

Interesting. So 5100's with the OME 880's then will work out fine?

yeah, im pretty positive.......just keep the 5100's on the stock setting and you'll be good to go. you could go with 881's if you wanted a little lift, and then run an aal from toytec(wheelers may have one too), but if you are wanting to stay near stock height......880's are the way to go, and the 5100's will be a nice edition.

Good to know. I was going to go with just the stock replacements from TRDParts4U and after talking with the stealerships in the the area... Their shit was way overpriced and I could get the 5100's through Wheelers cheaper than any stealership on the stock's. Going to order them in a few.

Are you kidding? I just replaced every fluid in her with Amsoil, ordered Billies and OME's. Replaced the joke of a air filter that was K&N with a Amsoil filter. I need to get her running right before I throw a deckplate her way. But the gray wire is on the list. Going to pull the throttle body and IAC clean the shit out of them ant slap 'em back on. Just need to find the gaskets locally.
