Revtek Suspension Lift?

Is anyone using a Revtek suspension lift? I went to a shop today and the guy that runs the shop was big on them. He didn't have it in stock and would have to order it, so he wasnt just trying to move his inventory.

It appears that they have two kits, one uses a rear add a leaf and the other a rear block.

Opinions would be appreciated. My truck will not be used often for aggressive off road four wheeling, mostly snow and an occassional trail/camping trip.

 

well first what is the front suspension, if it's spacers i'd stay away from them, second get the aal not the block, they are way better.

 

The front is a split spacer.

Why do you advise staying away from spacers, other than they are lower tech than more expensive systems?

 

well spacers basically just preload the spring, and they ride worrible compared to say a set of bilstein 5100, because you are not putting a new shock/strut in with a spacer, you are basically asking your stock strut to do more then it was meant to do. but i mean it also depends on what size spacer your looking at. i mean it you want to get a decent amount of lift then a spacer is not the way to go, and i'm sure almost everyone on here will agree, plus a set of bilstein 5100 is not that much more then a spacer lift, and you've have a way better ride.

that just means he has an account and makes a good profit margin from them...

there are other coil spacer lifts that have been around years longer than Revtek that are more affordable and offer the same quality ride...

as mentioned above, they are stiffer the higher you get... to soften the ride up a bit, make sure you couple them with nonTRD coils and try the Bilstein HD stock replacement shocks...

on road, even at 3" they aren't too bad... offroad, it can be a bit rough if you are doing any moderate speed wheeling...

 

Avoid the rev tek its not a good kit I had it on my 2000 tacoma about 7 yrs ago when they first came out, the truck looked awesome but was useless off road and harsh on road, Im sure a few guys here will agree spend alittle more on something like the OME kit and you'll be alot happier because after a few months with the rev tek kit you will probably have it "For sale" on this forum.

 

and get maybe a fraction of what you paid for it too...

I'm jumping in late: no on both of your choices. Reasons: blocks such and are so close to aal price why not go better quality and ride for the few extra dollars, there are so many better options for the front as was stated above. Get quality parts the first time so you enjoy your truck and don't regret the pruchase.

 

dont get it. i have it and i bought it before i knew about this forum it looks great but its not good for off roading. do what everyone recommends and buy the toytec ultimate or billy 5100's.

 

i like mine looks good rides better than stock and ive had it on 4 about 15000 miles with no problem but get the aal mine works great

 

If I recall right the "billies" will raise the front about 2.5 and the rear about an inch. I had the TSB on the rear springs done yesterday. I'd like to run 285 tires. Would the new shocks accomplish that? Oh, and thanks for all the great input.

 

If there is no lift to the rear, then is there any advantage to getting rear shocks when my truck already has bilisteins? What would be recommended for the rear?

 

The 5100s have way bette damping than the oem shocks. The oem shocks say "bilstein" but they are really just a glorified upgrade. The only thing that makes them different is they are yellow.

 

I have had mine in the swamps of Louisiana for 3 years now and no problems

 

i just replaced mine with the toytec ultimate. nothing was wrong with it other than harsh/stiff ride when off roading> if i didn't enjoy going on trails i wouldn't have upgraded.....IMO there is nothing wrong with rev tek if your a "MALL CRAWLWER" and you never take it off road................if you enjoy seeing the trails and some good views of nature and the trails get bumpy from time to time then stay away from any spacer lift and block lift....

as far as the lift goes.... from my experience I hear that spacers are a really rough ride on and off the road.... so I don't know what else to tell you other than don't do it... it's the same with my truck now though... drop coils is all they offer for the front and I don't like them because they give a really rough ride... I wish they would come out with coilovers already.... it's just a better ride because you are replacing the whole assembly and not just make something work harder because you wanted to go a cheaper route and then it may possibly fail because of it.... just my .02 cents...
