rear shocks

my rear shocks are now squeaking almost all the time. when i take off i can hear them and the back end goes a little down. should i look into getting some new ones or do i just need to grease them up?

 

Are you sure it's the shocks that are making the noise or the leaf springs? You can't grease shocks, only replace them.

 

Have you measured this "back end goes a little down"?? Cause the shocks don't support the weight- The springs do.
And where do you "hear them" from?? Like as you take them off or while hang compressing them??

 

sounds like a dirty leaf pack.

 

how can you tell if its the leaf pack? when i put stuff in the bed or get in and out of it they just squeak. i drive with my windows down and when i take off from a stop i can hear them squeak.

 

Shocks aren't supposed to squeak, but leaf packs do when they have crap in between them. If you're so sure it's the shocks then why ask the question?

 

Surefire way to tell-Unbolt your shocks, and then jump in the bed.

Or spray some lube between the leafs in your packs.

 

Its probably the leafs. Pressure wash them and then buy some lube. I use thi stuff from lowes. Its in a white spray can with a green cap.
