I'm sure this question has been on here a million times, and I've read through many of the posts, but I'm a complete newbie and my brain is fried from all the reading.

I got a 2010 TRD O/R 4x4 DC and want a 3 inch lift. This will be a daily driver that I take off road MAYBE 6 times a year. The thing is when I do go off road, I plan to beat on it pretty hard. I basically want it to look good and be functional. So with that said, what lift do you guys recommend? I'm trying to keep the TOTAL budget somewhere around $2200 including a decent set of tires. I plan on keeping the stock 16" rims. Again, I apologize for posting something that's been posted so many times, but with ALL the options out there I'm more confused now than ever. I'm tired of delaying my lift out of fear that I'll make the wrong decision, so I'm basically letting you guys decide.

Also, I read about that TSB, should I TRY to get that done before the lift?

    Thanks!

*edit: Oh yea, would also love to try and keep the ride as close to stock as possible. A little harder is fine, but this is still a daily driver.

tsb will only raise the rear an inch about. your best option for 3 inch and beating on it would to be coilovers, toytec, icon, king, sway-a-way. also for the rear all you need is an add a leaf and new shocks. and you will be ready to beat away. as far as tires look into a good all terrain because you will only go offroad a few times a year, and you should be able to keep it under your budget

what size tire you planning on running?

if your doing 3" lift you also have to take into account new upper control arms then also with the stock backspacing being 5.5" and say putting a 285/75/16 on the rim you will have to worry about rubbing issues in your fender well wether it be the cab mount or the upper control arm. you might need to go with a 4.5 or more backspaced wheel.

You can get a full OME set up for I think $700 through Toy tec. A lot of people are running it. Great kit. I am waiting to install the front on mine. That would leave you plenty money to get a set of LR UCAs and tires.

^and depending on tire size possibly new wheels lol

you also have to remember that lifting it 3" sucks the wheels and tires in therefor not as much room for inside things allowing more things to rub, mostly have to worry about the upper control arms and since you mentioned wheeling it hard do the cab mount chop so you dont ruin your tires.

Ok so say I get the ultimate lift kit or the OME kit; on top of that and tires I would have to get new UCAs and spacers in order to fit the 285/75/16 tires. Am I getting this right so far? With the spacer and the bigger tires, the tires will hit the fender if I bounce hard enough and they will rub if I turn them all the way right? Is there any way to prevent this?

Trimming, cab mount chop and yes that's it. You might not have to do as much trimming as others but with that setup you seem to have it right.

You really only need to worry about new uca's when you going over 2.5", so if you go adjustable coilovers and set them at 2.5", you might not need new uca's

^ and I totally agree. When I look around at random tacomas in parking lots with lifts and tires, all the stock uca's have rub markings on them. Very few aftermarket uca's show signs of rub. Coincidence it might be but the uniballs a lot of them use give you what like an inch or so of wiggle room between the larger tire and uca. That might be totally wrong but seems like from what I have seen on other trucks
