My brakes will make a "click" or a shackling noise sometimes when applied in reverse.....like Krookz said, floating pads.

My thoughts are that you should crawl under the truck and grab your CV's and try to move them in and out. I was able to replicate my front end "clunk" by doing this. There has been some discussion here about an acceptable level of play and I confirmed it by visiting a friend who is a Toyota Tech. We checked a brand new unit on the hoist at the dealer and sure enough, movement with a "clunk".

I have this clunk also and found it to be the brake pads. I only hear it when I hit the brakes. Floating pads is right. Atleast in my case
