Eibach coils on stock struts?

I am planning on purchasing a 2010 4x4 DC V6 TRD Sport soon and the first thing I get for it will be the ARB bumper. I was going to leave the suspension stock for the time being but would like to lift the front end a little if possible in order to combat the sag from the extra weight. Problem is money will be tight as we are also buying a new house this summer. So I got to thinking, could I run the Eibach coils with the stock struts? According to website it will work. I know the struts won't last as long this way but by the time they wear out I could afford a set of 5100's or maybe even an OME lift kit. If it does work, what is the ride quality going to be like?

 

I think just getting the Bilstein 5100s for the front right off the bat would be a better idea. Its only what, $150-200 for the pair of em, then you could adjust the height of them down the road if desired also. I think the heavier spring rate of the Eibachs would give a poor ride on the factory front struts since they wont have enough dampening.

 

hey quick question anyone know this off the top of their head what is the stock height of the front and rear suspension in inches?

 

^ what are you referring to exactly? like, inches from ground to fender? height of shock on regular ride height?

I dunno about Eibach's with a DC + ARB. I would go with 885's and OME shocks. Do it once, do it right. Save your cash for it. No need to lift your truck twice ya know?

Lifting with 5100's is plain 'ol silly to me. No offense to anyone who has done that.

Why do you say that? Spring rate on the Eibach is 620lbs vs. 590lbs for the 885 unless I am mistaken?

 

nope, the 5100's wouldn't increase or decrease any portion of the suspension travel.

Ok, so what would be the best short term budget solution: Eibach coils on stock struts or 5100's on the front with stock coils? Either way, I would be upgrading down the road as I wear out the stock components.

 

i have heard that the eibach coils with stock struts doesn't give a good ride. i think you will bottom out on speed bumps and such? if i'm remembering correctly? just go with the billy's set at .85. then when you upgrade down the road you will already have some good offroad shocks. the 5100 billy's have a lifetime guarantee.

 

I was going to do that. Toytec said to get the 883/884 to use with stock did not recommend Eibach. I would get the OME shocks and springs.
