Is there a "How to" for removing/installing front axle half shafts?

I couldnt find anything when I searched. Anyone got any info?

I don't know why that guy did not drain the diff fluid first...

 

Ya, that would have saved him a big mess. Or maybe he did and that was all that was left over. I thought that it was just grease that was in the cv boots?

 

Yeah, grease in the CVs, but when you pull the axle shaft out of the front diff it opens up that side and allows some of the diff oil to flow out. Either drain and re-fill before doing the job, or just be ready to catch the oil under the side of the differential and then top it off with some fresh oil.

I need to change the oil anyways, so I will probably drain it all before and then just put new stuff in after.
