I just finished putting in my lift and i installed the Billys 5125s in the rear and i put them Boot up to keep them out of the water but the stockers are boot down and say on them TOP, on the top side.
    so does it matter?

I have my 5125's the other way, with boots down. They sent them to me with the adapters already on the top end.

It does matter. The rebound, and compression dampening rates are different. With the Billies, they are mounted correctly when the words are correctly oriented.

OK i just got off the phone with Bilstein, and the answer i got was a little unclear.
He said "a good rule of thumb is if you can read our name there are installed correctly, so if that means the boot is down although it might look a little funny that correct."
Me: so is that a good rule of thumb or will it effect the ride and shock,, even gas filled.
him "normally they are designed so our name can be read."

    Jut called All-pro
Me: i had a question about the rear shocks for the 3" lift kit do they mount boot up or boot down?
All-pro: boot down (with an immediate answer so questions asked!)

So i looks like i found something to do today.
