I have Fabtech 6" lift but looking for more to prevent tire rub

Hello everyone, I have an 05 Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed M/T 4x4 and I installed the Fabtech 6" lift kit with some 20" rims w/ 35" tires. Im having rubbing issues when i turn the wheel 3/4-Full turn. I shaved the fenders down a bunch and had a piece of the frame cut out and they rewelded a piece of metal in there to keep the stability (which helps out a ton). Now I was looking into the Fabtech coilovers to see if I could bump it up some more and was wondering what your thoughts are on this matter. I called Fabtech and they said it would only raise it another 3/4"-1" and Im not sure if that will fix it or not. Let me know if you guys have run into this problem before and what you think I should do. Thank you.

 

The rear of my truck seems to be fine I have yet to rub the back end when I offroad. Im just having troubles with the front end.

 

Ive already done this and nothing is touching. It mainly rubs when the wheel is turned and im going over a little bump. Wouldnt raising it up a bit more in the front give me more room for the suspension to go up and down before it hits the rubbing spot?

2"-3" body lift?

I was hoping it wouldn't come to that I hear alot of bad things about body lifts. Any known issues with this such as drivetrain and shifting. I have a M/T which seems to be rare since most people have Automatics.

 

I dont have the coilovers yet I was looking to get them so do you think that if I installed them that it wouldnt help at all?

More lift could help, depends on where/how it rubs. Would a wider wheel base fix it: more offset wheels, or spacers? Try to get some pictures of where the rubs are or something, we'll help you brainstorm.

If you are going to lift it more I'd do coils first, but if you go bodylift I wouldn't go more than an inch, starts to look bad after that.

 

Get a new off-road bumper. That takes care of a lot in the front. Your fender flares are probly rubbing at the bottom bellow the mirrors. Maybe throw some wheel spacers on there.

 

I just got mine back 2 weeks ago and have the same issue. It seems like to solve the problem we have to cut a lot, I guess?, anyway, they look good......

 

you can get a set of Icons for the 6" lift and crank them up a bit




but trimming or messing with your offsets are your best bet

Whats the offset of the gangstar wheels?

 

I hate to be the one to say it but, as far as functionality goes, the best thing to do is go with smaller tires. I would just hate to start cutting my truck apart to fit a tire. Beside that, I think a truck with a 6" lift and 33's looks better than that with 35's. They drive and perform better as well.
